Enhanced with expanded Chapter 9 story context, Pensive Statues puzzle walkthrough, NPCs, and exploration details
Jijeong Temple is a remote desert monastery in Crimson Desert, located in one of Pywel's more isolated regions. The temple is home to monks who have long practiced Axiom meditation and spiritual disciplines. It plays a significant role in the main story during Chapter 9, when the temple falls into chaos due to the spreading Abyss corruption.
The location is known for its Pensive Statues puzzle, which requires the use of Axiom Force to repair and reactivate ancient meditation statues that have been disrupted by the Abyss energy.
The temple sits on elevated desert terrain, with its distinctive pagoda tower visible from a distance. The architecture features a blend of eastern-inspired design with Pywel's unique aesthetic, including stone courtyards, meditation halls, and shrines dedicated to Axiom practice. Water channels run through the temple grounds, carrying purified water from mountain springs to the temple's central fountain.
Under normal circumstances, the temple is a place of tranquility. Monks go about their daily routines of meditation, study, and physical training. When the Abyss corruption reaches the temple, however, the peaceful atmosphere is shattered as the corrupting energy distorts the monks' Axiom abilities and creates hostile manifestations throughout the grounds.
Jijeong Temple is situated in a desert region of Pywel, set apart from the grasslands and forests of Hernand. The journey to the temple takes players through arid landscapes with sparse vegetation and rocky terrain. The temple's isolated position is intentional; the monks chose this location specifically for its distance from the distractions of civilization.
During Chapter 9 of the main story, players travel to Jijeong Temple to find it under siege by Abyss corruption. The corrupting energy has affected the monks, the temple's Axiom-powered systems, and the surrounding environment. Kliff must navigate the corrupted temple, help the remaining uncorrupted monks, and ultimately restore the Pensive Statues to cleanse the area.
The chapter's events at the temple reveal important lore about the connection between Axiom meditation and the Abyss, and how the spreading corruption threatens even the most spiritually fortified locations in Pywel.
The Pensive Statues are ancient meditation figures that channel Axiom energy through the temple. When the Abyss corruption disrupts them, players must use Axiom Force to physically repair and realign the statues.
Each Pensive Statue has been knocked out of alignment or partially destroyed by the corruption.
Use Axiom Force to grab displaced statue components and return them to their correct positions.
Some statues require rotating to face specific directions, channeling Axiom energy along predefined paths.
The puzzle becomes progressively more complex as players move deeper into the temple, with later statues requiring multi-step solutions.
Abyss-corrupted manifestations appear throughout the temple grounds during Chapter 9. These enemies are formed from the corrupted Axiom energy and include both standard hostile creatures and enhanced variants empowered by the temple's concentrated spiritual energy.
