Overview

Fort Perwin is a fortified military outpost in the Hernand region, owned and operated by House Roberts. The fort was built to monitor the growing bandit problem in the area, but it has since become overrun by hostile forces and a supernatural threat known as the Crimson Nightmare. Players visit Fort Perwin as part of the House Roberts faction questline during the Continuing Concern arc.

Location

Fort Perwin is located to the southwest of Hernand. A small camp area just outside the fort serves as a staging ground where players can prepare before entering. The Perwin Gate, Perwin Prison Camp, Perwin Quarry, and Perwin Trading Post are all situated in the immediate vicinity of the fort, forming a cluster of related sub-areas.

The Scholastone Archive can be found to the southwest of Hernand, near Fort Perwin. An Ancient Ruins puzzle location sits directly south of the fort.

Quests

Fort Perwin features prominently in the House Roberts faction questline:

• The Crimson Nightmare : A faction quest requiring players to defeat the Crimson Nightmare boss within the fort. Rewards include elixirs and an Abyss Artifact.

• Veil of the Red Smoke : A follow-up quest to clear the remaining bandits around the fort and confront the Crimson Nightmare a second time.

Boss: The Crimson Nightmare

The Crimson Nightmare is a supernatural boss that haunts Fort Perwin. It emits a red smoke that inflicts a Confusion status effect, dealing damage over time to anyone caught in it. The boss floats above the ground and is immune to standard melee attacks until staggered.

To deal damage to the Crimson Nightmare, players must stand beneath it, jump, and use the Force Palm ability. Each Force Palm hit fills roughly a quarter of the boss's stagger gauge. Once staggered, it crashes to the ground and becomes vulnerable to regular attacks, and its health drops quickly.

Preparation

• Crude Devil Mask : This mask grants immunity to the Confusion status caused by the red smoke. It drops from enemies inside and around the fort. Farming nearby bandits is the best way to obtain one.

• Scarlet Blades Gas Mask : An alternative mask that also provides confusion immunity, dropped by enemies in the fort.

• Spirit management : Force Palm consumes Focus (Spirit). Bring Spirit-replenishing food or meditate at the camp to charge up before the fight.

• Grindstone : Use the grindstone at the camp outside the fort to increase your weapon damage before entering.

Enemies and Loot

Fort Perwin is populated with numerous bandits that respawn regularly, making it a viable spot for farming silver and crafting materials. Enemies drop Crude Devil Masks, which can be worn or sold for significant silver. Crates scattered around the fort contain free vegetables and ingredients useful for cooking.

Tips

• You can bypass most enemies and run directly to the Crimson Nightmare boss without clearing the entire fort.

• Farm the enemies outside the fort first to obtain a Crude Devil Mask before engaging the boss. Without confusion immunity, the red smoke deals constant damage.

• Cook Hearty Grilled Meat at a bonfire using Fine Meat for a reliable healing item during the fight.

• An Ancient Ruins puzzle is located just south of the fort, so check for it after clearing the area.
