New article: Cubewalker Lithus boss guide
Cubewalker Lithus is an optional boss in Crimson Desert, found in the Southern Quarry within the Grace Estate area of the Hernand region. Lithus is a massive stone golem with a distinctive glowing red cube for a head. Unlike most bosses, Lithus cannot be damaged through normal attacks. Players must use Axiom Force to wrench the cube from its body, causing it to crumble and creating a damage window.
Cubewalker Lithus appears as part of the Southern Quarry liberation questline, a Hernand side quest connected to House Felix. To access this fight, you need to:
Progress the Greymane questline through Embers of Return.
Upgrade your Greymane Camp to unlock the quest A Rumor in the Southern Quarry.
Follow the quest markers to the Southern Quarry in the Grace Estate area.

Region | Hernand |
Required Skill | |
Weak Point | Glowing red cube head |
Lithus uses several area-of-effect attacks in a relatively cramped arena, making positioning important:
Wide melee swings: Lithus sweeps its massive stone arms in broad arcs that cover much of the arena.
Rock Throw: Lithus raises both arms, generates multiple rocks above its head, and launches them simultaneously at the player.
Cube Stone Whirlwind: Lithus scatters cube-shaped stones into a whirlwind pattern around itself. This attack is extremely difficult to dodge through conventional rolling.
The key to this fight is Axiom Force. Normal weapon attacks do negligible damage to Lithus. You need to rip the glowing cube head off its body to create a damage window.
Press L3 (click left stick) to activate Axiom Force.
Target the glowing red cube on Lithus's head.
Hold L2 and rotate the right stick clockwise, similar to a fishing reel motion.
The cube tears free and Lithus crumbles into scattered stone chunks, exposing its core.
Attack the exposed head for maximum damage. The head itself takes the most damage.
Repeat this cycle 2 to 3 times to defeat Lithus.
Timing tip: Only attempt to grab the head after Lithus finishes an attack sequence or briefly turns away. Trying to use Axiom Force during its attacks will leave you vulnerable.
Use Nature's Retribution on the rock projectiles that Lithus throws. The rocks orbit around you, and releasing them back deals significant stagger damage. When the stagger bar fills completely, the cube head lowers on its own, creating a damage window without needing Axiom Force.
Climbing the elevated stone slabs around the arena triggers a "Return to the Battlefield" warning but does not cancel the fight. You can pull the head from an elevated position without being attacked, as long as you return to the arena floor within 30 seconds.
Reward | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Rune-Engraved Rock | Two-Handed Weapon | Dropped directly from Lithus |
Secret of the Abandoned Mine | Key Item | Opens to reveal Fine Stone |
Power Core: Verse of Sowing | Crafting Material | Sealed via Axiom Force near the Kuku Pot after the fight; used for crafting the A.T.A.G. |
Progression | Standard boss reward |
Make sure Axiom Force is unlocked before attempting this fight. Without it, the boss is nearly impossible to defeat efficiently.
The arena is cramped, so keep your camera positioned to see incoming attacks clearly.
Defeating Lithus advances the Southern Quarry liberation meter, but you also need to clear Bleed Bandits throughout the area and optionally destroy their structures (Infirmary, Barracks, Training Ground) for full liberation.
Stock up on healing items before the fight. The rock throw attack can chunk your health if you get caught in the open.
The Power Core: Verse of Sowing is used in crafting the A.T.A.G. (All-Terrain Armored Gear), a mechanical mount.
