11Overview2233The Greymane Camp is the player's expandable home base in Crimson Desert. After surviving the ambush by the Black Bears, Kliff and the remaining Greymanes regroup at Howling Hill in the Hernand region to rebuild their mercenary company. The camp starts as a modest shelter with a few tents and gradually grows into a thriving settlement complete with production facilities, a farm, a ranch, dispatch operations, and cosmetic services.445566Camp expansion is the backbone of progression in Crimson Desert. Building new facilities, recruiting scattered Greymane members, and sending comrades on dispatch missions all feed into a resource loop that strengthens Kliff and the entire mercenary band. Neglecting the camp means slower gear upgrades, fewer inventory slots, and a weaker resource pipeline for the mid and late game.778-Important: The Greymane faction quests in your Journal are the primary unlock mechanism for camp features and comrade recruitment. Every camp expansion requires a minimum number of recruited comrades, and most facility unlocks are tied directly to completing Grounds of the Sunrise quests. Whenever new Greymane faction quests appear after a story milestone, prioritize them over other side content. Completing the A Rumor at Glenbright Farm quest, for example, simultaneously unlocks the Cook and the Quartermaster at camp. The Greymane Commissions also reward +3 inventory slots per quest (27 quests, 81 total slots), making them one of the most valuable side activities in the game.8+Important: The Greymane faction quests in your Journal are the primary unlock mechanism for camp features and comrade recruitment. After completing the opening chapters and arriving at Howling Hill, Kliff raises a banner and drives a stake into the ground to establish the Greymane base. Marius, an old comrade, reconnects with Kliff here and oversees camp upgrade projects going forward.13131414Two recruits, Carl and Ross, join the camp immediately. Carl manages provisions and the Supply Chest, while Ross handles dispatch mission coordination. From this point on, the full camp management system opens up.15151616Expansion Tiers17171818The camp grows through a series of expansion missions dispatched from the world map. Each expansion requires a minimum number of recruited comrades along with food, silver, and other resources. After dispatching the mission, a set number of in-game hours must pass before the expansion completes.19192020Each subsequent expansion demands more recruits and heavier resource investment. Five resource categories fuel camp growth:212122-Resource CategorySourcesFoodCooking, farming, ranching, harvest dispatch missionsSilverEscort missions, selling goods, lootingArmamentsWeapons, armor, accessories from crafting or lootingStonesMining dispatch missions, gathering ore depositsTimberLogging dispatch missions, gathering wood22+Resource CategoryWhere FoundFoodCooking, farming, ranching, harvest dispatch missionsSilverEscort missions, selling goods, lootingArmamentsWeapons, armor, accessories from crafting or lootingStonesMiningdispatch missions, gathering ore depositsTimberLoggingdispatch missions, gathering wood2323As of Patch 1.04, the camp's expansion level also controls which house layout options unlock for the player house inside Greymane Camp. Four layouts are available in total: Compact, Standard, Spacious, and Spacious Pailune House. The first three are tied to progression through the expansion tiers below, and the fourth becomes selectable only after the camp has been moved to Pailune. Layout selection is handled through housing mode alongside furniture placement.24242525First Expansion (Chapter 3: Bustling Hill)26262727The first expansion triggers during the Bustling Hill quest in Chapter 3. Open the world map, hover over the Howling Hill camp icon, and press the inspect button to access the Mission List tab. Select "Expand the Camp at Howling Hill" and assign your two available comrades, Luke and Ronald.28282929RequirementAmountRecruits2Food100Silver250Duration17 in-game hoursReward500 EXP, camp levels up3030After 17 in-game hours the expansion completes, new tents and carts appear in camp, and Marius opens additional recruitment quests. You can speed up the clock by resting in the main tent bed (which advances 12 hours at a time) or by completing side content while you wait.31313232Second Expansion333334-The second expansion becomes available after recruiting at least four Greymane comrades through the Grounds of the Sunrise faction quests. This expansion unlocks cosmetic and crafting services that expand your options beyond basic combat gear.34+The second expansion becomes available after recruiting at least four Greymane comrades through the Grounds of the Sunrisefaction quests. The Alchemy Lab lets you brew combat-enhancing potions and dyes from gathered herbs and insects. The Dyehouse, run by Oliver, handles equipment recoloring. Eric the barber offers hairstyle, beard, and tattoo changes for all three playable characters.38383939Third Expansion40404141The third expansion requires a substantial increase in recruits and introduces armaments as a resource requirement for the first time. Plan ahead by running armament-producing dispatch missions throughout the mid game.42424343RequirementAmountRecruits7Armaments1,000Stone1,500Timber1,500Food2,500Silver50,0004444Completing the third expansion unlocks the Trading Center and the Timberturner Wainwright, which enables profitable trade wagon routes between settlements. The farm also expands with additional crop plots and greater variety. At this stage, armament costs begin to escalate, so stockpile weapons and armor you do not need by donating them to Carl's provisions pool.45454646Fourth Expansion (Late Game)47474848By the fourth expansion, costs escalate significantly. Armaments in particular become a bottleneck because weapons and armor are more time-consuming to accumulate than raw materials.49495050RequirementAmountRecruits10Armaments1,500Stones2,500Timber2,500Food4,000Silver100,0005151Plan ahead by keeping dispatch missions running at all times and stockpiling armaments well before you reach this stage. The Gorthak Ironworks dispatch in Delesyia is one of the strongest armament-producing missions in the late game, generating thousands of armaments per run.52525353Pailune Reconstruction (Post-Chapter 7)54545555After completing Chapter 7 (Time to Face Justice), the Faction Questline "Reconstructing Pailune" unlocks. This relocates the Greymane operations northward and opens large-scale construction projects including the Pailune Council and Pailune Institute. These projects give your dispatched recruits meaningful long-term work and further expand the Greymanes' influence.56565757New House Layouts Unlocked by Expansion Level58585959Patch 1.04 added a select house options feature that lets Kliff swap between four different floor plans for the player house inside the Greymane Camp. Which layouts are available is gated on the camp's current expansion tier, so the option grows alongside the rest of the camp's progression.60606161House LayoutRequirementNotesCompactDefault starting layout. Available at the first camp expansion.Smaller floor area with fewer placement spots. Useful when Kliff has only a handful of Wardrobe or chest items and does not want empty space.StandardUnlocks as camp expansion tiers progress through the mid game.Balanced floor area. Enough room for a full cooking setup plus a couple of storage chests without feeling cramped.SpaciousUnlocks at the later camp expansion tiers (before Pailune relocation).Largest non-Pailune layout. Recommended once Kliff owns several Wardrobe units (100 slots each, up to ten) and both cooler tiers.Spacious Pailune HouseRequires the camp to be moved to Pailune via the Reconstructing Pailune faction quest line.Only selectable after relocation. Pairs with the new Private Storage item that is also granted after the Pailune move, so this is the layout most long-term camp builders end on.6262Switching layouts is free and does not consume resources. The game preserves previously placed furniture across layout swaps where geometry allows, so it is safe to experiment. For reference on the broader housing system, see Personal Housing and Housing and Farming.63636464Camp Facilities65656666Facilities are unlocked by recruiting specific Greymane members through faction quests and by completing camp expansions. Open the Journal and navigate to Faction Quests, then check the Greymanes tabs. Recruitment missions typically begin with "A Rumor..." and lead you to a location where old comrades are hiding or working.72727373Only Greymane members can be recruited. Random freeswords encountered in the open world cannot join the camp. Each recruit brings unique skills that affect dispatch mission performance and may also unlock new camp facilities or services.74747575Faction Quest Tabs76767777The Greymane faction quests are organized into three tabs:78787979Scattered Embers: Side quests from supporting characters like Naira, Yann, and Oongka.Grounds of the Sunrise: Camp expansion projects and the locations of scattered Greymane survivors. This tab is where most recruitment missions appear.Greymane Commissions: Requests from Greymanes already living in camp, typically asking for specific materials or weapons. There are 27 commissions total, each rewarding a Medium Bag that adds 3 inventory slots (up to 81 additional slots).80808181Key Recruitable NPCs828283-NPCRole at CampHow to RecruitCarlProvisions keeper; manages Supply Chest and camp donationsJoins automatically during camp establishmentRossDispatch Coordinator; manages comrade assignmentsAppears after completing the first camp expansionLukeFreesword available for dispatch missionsAvailable from the start of Chapter 3RonaldFreesword available for dispatch missionsAvailable from the start of Chapter 3BenRanch manager; teaches livestock handling"A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" questKamuFarm manager; oversees crop planting and harvesting"A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" questTrananCamp blacksmith; sells gear, ammunition, and refinement materialsGreymane faction questsEricBarber; hairstyles, beards, tattoosGreymane faction questsOliverDyehouse operator; recolors armor, weapons, and horse gearGreymane faction questsArnoldFreesword with the Engineer skill; enables wagon constructionHalssius' quest lineDamianePlayable character with her own skill tree and combat styleChapter 3 main quest; introduced by Marshall Middler at Howling HillOongkaPlayable character; heavy weapon specialist with an orc blasterMet in Chapter 6; unlocked as playable at the end of Chapter 783+NPCRole at CampHow to RecruitCarlProvisions keeper; manages Supply Chest and camp donationsJoins automatically during camp establishmentRossDispatch Coordinator; manages comrade assignmentsAppears after completing the first camp expansionLukeFreesword available for dispatch missionsAvailable from the start of Chapter 3RonaldFreesword available for dispatch missionsAvailable from the start of Chapter 3BenRanch manager; teaches livestock handling"A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" questKamuFarm manager; oversees crop planting and harvesting"A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" questTrananCamp blacksmith; sells gear, ammunition, and refinement materialsGreymanefaction questsEricBarber; hairstyles, beards, tattoosGreymanefaction questsOliverDyehouse operator; recolors armor, weapons, and horse gearGreymanefaction questsArnoldFreesword with the Engineer skill; enables wagon constructionHalssius' quest lineDamianePlayable character with her own skill tree and combat styleChapter 3 main quest; introduced by Marshall Middler at Howling HillOongkaPlayable character; heavy weapon specialist with an orc blasterMet in Chapter 6; unlocked as playable at the end of Chapter 78484Recruit as many Greymanes as possible early on. More recruits means more dispatch missions can run simultaneously, and several camp expansions have a minimum recruit count before they can be dispatched.85858686Dispatch Missions87878888Dispatch missions are the engine that drives camp growth. Once Ross sets up the Dispatch Coordinator after the first expansion, you can send comrades to any discovered map location that has a dispatch icon. Missions run passively in the background while you explore, fight, or complete quests.89899090How to Dispatch919192929393To dispatch a mission, you must be standing inside the relevant camp or near a location with a dispatch icon. Open the map, hover over the camp icon, and press Y (Xbox) or Triangle (PlayStation) to inspect it. This opens a tilt-shifted overhead view of the location along with a menu of options. Use RB (Xbox) or R1 (PlayStation) to navigate to the Mission List tab, where all available dispatch missions for that location are displayed. Select a mission, assign your freeswords, and press X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) to confirm the dispatch.94949595Open the world map and hover over a location with a dispatch icon.Press the inspect button (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox) to view available missions.Switch to the Mission List tab and select a mission.Assign comrades to the mission. Always send more than the minimum number when possible for bonus rewards.Confirm the dispatch. The mission runs in the background for its listed duration.96969797Managing Freeswords98989999After the first camp expansion completes, Ross appears at the Dispatch Coordinator station, marked on the map with a helmet icon. Speaking with Ross opens the Mission Dispatch interface, which provides a centralized overview of all active and available dispatch missions without needing to navigate the world map location by location.100100101101Through Ross, you can send soldiers on faction-building missions that strengthen the Greymanes' influence across regions and reduce opposition at hostile encampments. As you progress through Greymane faction quests and recruit additional freeswords, you gain the ability to run multiple dispatch missions simultaneously. Early on, you are limited to two or three active missions at once, but recruiting more companions steadily increases your dispatch capacity throughout the game.102102103103Mission Types104104105105Mission TypeRewardsCostEscortSilverFoodHarvesting / FarmingFood, trade goodsSilverMiningStones, oresSilver, foodLoggingTimberSilver, foodRecapture StrongholdReduces enemy presence in the areaArmaments, food, silverProductionCrafted itemsArmaments, food, silverCraftingSpecialty items, trade goodsVaries106106Matching Skills to Missions107107108108Every comrade has a set of skills that boost or enable dispatch missions. Skills are divided into two groups:109109110110Efficiency Boosters increase the yield of missions that match their type. These include: Escort, Farmer, Rancher, Fisherman, Smith, Logger, and Miner.111111112112Required Skills are mandatory for certain missions. At least one assigned comrade must have the required skill, or the mission cannot be dispatched. These include: Craftsman, Jeweler, Engineer, Cook, Explorer, Painter, Weaver, and Builder.113113114114Skill Levels and Bonuses115115116116Each skill has three levels, indicated by icon color. Higher levels provide larger bonuses to mission rewards:117117118118Skill LevelIcon AppearanceBonusLevel 1Grey icon, white image+10% mission rewardsLevel 2Gold icon, grey image+30% mission rewardsLevel 3Gold icon, gold image+60% mission rewards119119If a single comrade has all three levels of a skill, they provide a combined 100% Skill Bonus for matching missions. Skills improve as you progress through the game and complete related content.120120121121Conversion Bonus122122123123Every major region has a church with a donation box. Donating silver to a region's church provides a Conversion Bonus to all dispatch missions in that region. This bonus stacks on top of Skill Bonuses and Comrade Bonuses, and it can exceed 100%, making it one of the most powerful multipliers in the dispatch system. The Skill Bonus caps at 100% and the Comrade Bonus caps at 40%, but the Conversion Bonus has no known hard ceiling.124124125125Farming and Ranching126126127127Both the farm and the ranch unlock through the "A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" faction quest, which introduces Ben (ranch) and Kamu (farm) to the camp. After meeting them, you must complete a series of short dispatch missions to construct the actual facilities at Howling Hill.128128129129Farm130130131131Kamu initiates farm operations by requesting an apple-picking dispatch mission at Glenbright Farm. After completing that mission, dispatch another mission to build the farm at Howling Hill. Once constructed, the farm lets you plant seedlings and harvest crops on a timer. Harvested crops feed directly into the cooking and alchemy systems, giving you a renewable source of ingredients without needing to forage in the open world.132132133133Ranch134134135135Ben sets up the ranch after you complete a milk dispatch mission at Bloomwood Ranch, followed by a construction dispatch at Howling Hill. The ranch lets you raise chickens, cows, and goats. Ben teaches ranch management through his request missions, including catching wild goats in the field, registering livestock at the ranch, and butchering animals for meat and hides.136136137137Ranch and farm production is especially important because almost every dispatch mission type draws from the food pool. If your food reserves run dry, your entire dispatch operation stalls. Keep the farm and ranch active at all times to maintain a steady food pipeline.138138139139Farm and Ranch Building Requirements140140141141Both facilities require recruits with the Builder skill to construct. Without a Builder in your roster, the construction dispatch missions for the farm and ranch remain locked even if you have enough resources. The Builder skill is also required for every camp expansion, so recruiting a Greymane with this specialization early is essential.142142143143Only one construction mission can run at the camp at a time. If you are building both the farm and the ranch, you must wait for one to finish before starting the other. Because apple trees take real in-game time to mature after planting, it is often more efficient to build the farm first. While the trees grow, you can complete Ben's ranch tutorial missions. By the time the ranch construction finishes, your first batch of crops will be close to harvest.144144145145Crop Maturation and the Magic Sickle146146147147Crops planted at the farm grow on an in-game timer. After planting seeds and watering them, you must wait for the plants to mature before harvesting. The watering process is manual; approach each crop plot and use the interaction prompt to water. Crops that are not watered will take longer to mature.148148149149In the late game, the Magic Sickle becomes available as a harvesting tool. This item dramatically speeds up the harvesting process by letting you cut an entire row of crops in a single swing, compared to picking each plant individually by hand. The Magic Sickle does not automate watering or planting, but it removes the most time-consuming part of farm maintenance.150150151151Ranch Management with Bram152152153-An NPC named Bram operates the camp ranch alongside Ben. While Ben handles the initial setup quests and livestock tutorials, Bram is the ranch's day-to-day operator. You can sell livestock directly to Bram for silver, and one of the Sealed Abyss Artifact challenges, "The Herder's Lament," specifically requires selling 3 goats to Bram at the camp ranch.153+An NPC named Bram operates the camp ranch alongside Ben. While Ben handles the initial setup quests and livestock tutorials, Bram is the ranch's day-to-day operator. You can sell livestock directly to Bram for silver, and one of the Sealed Abyss Artifactchallenges, "The Herder's Lament," specifically requires selling 3 goats to Bram at the camp ranch.154154155155Ranch animals require regular interaction. Livestock must be fed and moved between pens physically. Kliff picks up smaller animals (like pigs and goats) and carries them on his shoulders to relocate them. This hands-on approach means ranch management takes more active time than farming, but the payoff is a steady supply of meat, milk, and hides without needing to hunt in the wilderness.156156157157Camp Services158158159159160160Supply Chest161161162162Carl manages the Supply Chest, which holds up to 230 slots of uncollected loot. Whenever your personal inventory is full, excess items are automatically sent to the Supply Chest. Speak with Carl to retrieve stored items or donate resources to the camp pool.163163164164Camp Provisions and Trading165165166166Carl is identified on the camp map by a treasure chest icon. To donate resources, speak with Carl and select "Manage Supplies", then choose "Support Camp Resources". From this screen, press Y (Xbox) or Triangle (PlayStation) to confirm each donation. Items in your inventory display a donation value alongside their normal description, and that value is added to the corresponding camp provision category (food, silver, armaments, and so on). Keeping provisions stocked is essential because every dispatch mission draws from this collective pool. If a specific resource category runs dry, any missions requiring it will be locked until you resupply.167167168168Through Carl, you can donate resources to the camp's collective pool using the "Manage Supplies" and "Support Camp Resources" options. These provisions fuel dispatch missions. Once you recruit a comrade with the Engineer skill (such as Arnold from Halssius' quest), you can build a trade wagon at the Timberturner Wainwright. This lets you convert provisions into packaged trade goods and deliver them to trading posts across Pywel for profit. Monitor trading post prices to maximize returns.169169170170Cooking171171172172The camp cook and kitchen become available after completing "A Rumor at Glenbright Farm". At the kitchen, you can prepare meals from gathered ingredients using the Field Pot Cooking menu. The cook also sells recipes and ingredients, with stock refreshing daily. Cooked meals restore health and provide temporary buffs that are valuable for combat encounters and boss fights. See the Cooking article for a full list of recipes.173173174174Barber Shop and Dyehouse175175176176The Barber Shop and Dyehouse are purely cosmetic services. Eric the barber lets you change hairstyles, beards, eyebrows, and apply tattoos. Oliver runs the Dyehouse, where you can recolor armor, weapons, horse gear, and your War Robot using craftable or foraged dyes. All customization is cosmetic and has no effect on gameplay stats.177177178178Blacksmith179179180180Tranan is the camp blacksmith. He buys and sells gear with limited, rotating stock. He also sells ammunition and refinement materials. Weapon refinement at the blacksmith increases a weapon's base attack stats incrementally. Bring raw materials to Tranan for crafting instead of buying finished equipment if you want more control over your loadout.181181182182Greymane Commissions183183184184The Commissions tab in the Greymane faction quests contains 27 requests from comrades already living in camp. These typically ask you to deliver specific materials, weapons, or other items. Each completed commission rewards a Medium Bag that permanently adds 3 inventory slots. Completing all 27 commissions grants a total of 81 additional inventory slots, a massive quality-of-life improvement. Prioritize commissions whenever you have the required items on hand.185185186186Recommended Dispatch Rotations187187188188Strategic dispatch mission assignment makes a significant difference in camp resource flow. Below are recommended rotations for each phase of the game.189189190190PhaseMission 1Mission 2Mission 3Early (Ch. 3-4)Escort at Oakenshield Manor (silver)Harvest at Capra Pasture (food)Production at Warspike Spearmaker (armaments)Mid (Ch. 5-6)Thornbriar Food Storage (food)Sungrove Manor (mixed)Azerian Manor (mixed)Late (Ch. 7+)Gorthak Ironworks in Delesyia (armaments)Regional stronghold recaptures (area control)High-yield food missions to sustain operations191191Always send more comrades than the minimum required for a mission. Extra recruits earn bonus rewards on top of the standard payout. Check each comrade's skill profile before assigning them, and match Farmers to farming missions, Miners to mining missions, and so on for the highest yield.192192193193Smart Mission Sequencing194194195195Dispatch missions can be chained in a deliberate order so that the rewards from one mission fund the costs of the next. Reading each mission's cost and payout before dispatching lets you sequence them for maximum efficiency instead of running missions at random. The table below shows a proven early-game chain available in the Hernand region.196196197197MissionLocationTypeCostRewardCabbage HarvestCapra PastureHarvesting1,000 bronze1,000 foodMansion GuardOakenshield ManorEscort120 food1,900 bronze198198By running the Capra Pasture harvest first, you convert bronze into food. That food then covers the cost of the Oakenshield Manor escort mission, which pays back nearly double the bronze you spent at Capra Pasture. The net result is a profit on both fronts with minimal upfront investment. Look for similar chains in every region as you unlock new dispatch locations.199199200200Warning: Final Storage Expansion and Camp Relocation201201202202The final camp expansion introduces a massive upgrade to your private storage, but it comes with two important caveats that have caught many players off guard. Read this before you rush toward the final tier.203203204204Requires the Main Story and the Full Faction Questline205205206206The last storage expansion is gated behind completion of the main story campaign as well as completion of the great Greymane faction quest line. You cannot unlock it early by rushing dispatch missions alone. If you are still working through the mid-chapters or have Greymane faction quests left unfinished, the final expansion will not become available no matter how many recruits or resources you have stockpiled. Do not plan your build around having the maxed storage until both quest lines are actually complete.207207208208Save Before Committing to the New Location209209210210Completing the final expansion moves your camp to a new location. A significant portion of the community has expressed dissatisfaction with the new site, with complaints ranging from the aesthetic changes to the layout of facilities. Always save manually before confirming the final expansion. If the new location does not work for you, having a hard save lets you reload and simply delay finishing the chain until a future patch addresses the complaints, rather than being stuck with a relocation you cannot undo.211211212212In short, treat the final camp expansion as a point of no return. Finish the main story, clear every Greymane faction quest, stockpile resources, and then make a dedicated save before you touch the final upgrade.213213214214Passive Worker Scaling with Mech Workers215215216216Once you have cleared Chapter 11 of the main story, the camp gains access to craftable mech workers as a permanent, effectively unlimited source of dispatch personnel. Mech workers are not recruited through the usual Greymane faction quests; they are built at camp after completing a specific unlock chain in the Delesyia region.217217218218Unlock Requirements219219220220Two prerequisites must both be met before the mech worker crafting option appears at camp. These can be done in either order, though most players will already have Chapter 11 cleared before visiting the Dohaven research board.221221222222Liberate Money's Steel Armory in Delesyia. Clear the surrounding enemies and complete the liberation objective chain to add the armory to your list of allied points of interest.Complete the Dohaven Researcher's Chea Research mission at the research board inside Dohaven Castle. This research project unlocks the recipe for mech workers and is the specific project referenced by the "further research required" prompt on the mech worker dispatch entry.223223224224Warning: Never wear your mask inside Dohaven Castle. The castle guards treat the mask as a hostile signal on sight and will turn on you the moment you enter, even if you have not done anything else to provoke them. Remove the mask before you enter the castle grounds, handle the Dohaven Researcher's dialogue and research mission unarmed in the social sense, and only put the mask back on once you are clear of the building.225225226226Why Mech Workers Matter227227228228Once unlocked, mech workers can be crafted freely. Each mech worker comes with a level 3 Mining skill baseline, which makes them immediately optimal for any mining-type dispatch mission without needing to train them up through camp expansions. They also fill the same generic dispatch slots as Greymane comrades, so they can be dropped into any other mission type to satisfy the minimum personnel count, paired with a qualified Greymane for missions that require a specific skill.229229230230In practice this turns mech workers into effectively unlimited dispatch personnel for the mid to late game. Combined with the hired workers unlocked by the Seal of Devotion earlier in the story, mech workers eliminate the personnel bottleneck entirely. You should never have an empty dispatch slot after unlocking both systems; if a mission is not being sent out, it is because of a resource cost or missing required skill, not because of a worker shortage.231231232232Tips and Strategies233233234234Treat Greymane faction quests as mandatory. Camp expansion is gated behind comrade recruitment, and comrades are recruited through Grounds of the Sunrise quests. Every time new Greymane quests unlock after a chapter milestone, drop what you are doing and complete them. The camp facilities, dispatch slots, and inventory expansion they provide compound over the entire playthrough. Delaying these quests is the single biggest mistake new players make.Keep missions running at all times. Dispatch missions are passive income. Never leave comrades idle when there are missions available.Prioritize food production early. Almost every mission type costs food. Build the farm and ranch as soon as the Goldleaf Trading Post quest becomes available, and run at least one farming dispatch at all times.Complete commissions for inventory slots. The 81 extra inventory slots from all 27 Greymane Commissions are a game-changer. Prioritize these over other side content.Match comrades to missions by skill. Always check each comrade's skill profile before assigning them. Sending a Farmer on a farming mission or a Miner on a mining mission maximizes yield.Send more comrades than the minimum. Extra comrades earn bonus rewards on top of the standard payout, even if the mission only requires two.Donate to church donation boxes. The Conversion Bonus from regional church donations stacks with Skill and Comrade bonuses, sometimes doubling or more than doubling mission rewards.Stockpile armaments before the fourth expansion. Armaments are the biggest bottleneck for late-game expansions. Run armament-producing dispatches consistently throughout the mid game.Cancel missions to recoup costs. If you accidentally dispatch the wrong mission or realize you need resources elsewhere, cancelling refunds all invested resources in full.Use the bed to skip time. Resting in the main tent advances time by up to 12 hours, letting you fast-forward through dispatch timers without wandering aimlessly.Chain missions for compound profits. Read the cost and reward columns before dispatching. Run a harvest mission first to generate food, then spend that food on an escort mission that pays bronze. This kind of sequencing turns a single round of dispatches into a net gain on multiple resource types.Recommended early dispatch rotation: Run one Escort mission at Oakenshield Manor for steady silver, one Harvest mission at Capra Pasture for food, and one Production mission at Warspike Spearmaker for armaments.235235236236Patch 1.04 Changes237237238238Patch 1.04 rolled out a wide pass on camp quality of life. In addition to the house layout options described above, the patch adds a permanent water source at Howling Hill, grants a new private storage item for players who have moved camp to Pailune, shaves ten percent off all Greymane shop prices, and introduces five new furniture and storage items that can be placed through housing mode. Each change is broken out below. For the full list of patch changes across all systems, see Patch Notes.239239240240Howling Hill Upgrades241241242242A new Well was added at Howling Hill, giving the Greymane Camp a constant on-site supply of water. Before the patch, any Cooking recipe that required water forced Kliff to ride out to a river or stream and back. With the well in place, water is available directly at camp, so soups, stews, and other water-dependent recipes can be cooked in a single visit to the hilltop base.243243244244The well is a permanent fixture of Howling Hill once the patch is installed. It sits alongside the existing cooking pot and does not need to be unlocked through a quest or dispatch, so even brand-new runs benefit from it the moment the camp opens up in Chapter 3. Patch 1.04 also seeded Pywel with additional ores and wells more broadly, so gathering water and basic ore for camp crafting no longer requires the long detours it did in earlier patches.245245246246Pailune Relocation Bonuses247247248248After moving the Greymane Camp to Pailune through the Reconstructing Pailune faction quest line, Patch 1.04 grants two new rewards on top of the existing relocation perks:249249250250Private Storage item. A new Private Storage item is delivered to Kliff's inventory once the camp is relocated. It can be placed inside the player house through housing mode, giving the Pailune camp a dedicated stash that is separate from the camp-wide supply chest. The same five category tabs that are being added to the standard inventory will also be added to private storage in a near-future update, so organisation scales with the rest of Patch 1.04's inventory overhaul.Spacious Pailune House layout. The fourth house layout, Spacious Pailune House, is only selectable after the camp has been moved to Pailune. It is the largest available floor plan and is designed around having multiple Wardrobe units and both Kuku Cooler tiers placed at once.251251252252Patch 1.04 positions Pailune relocation as a real reward path rather than a side benefit. Between the new Private Storage item, the Spacious Pailune House layout, and the broader Pailune Reconstruction faction content that was already live, there is now a concrete list of perks to point at when deciding whether to commit to the move. The save-before-you-commit advice from the Camp Relocation warning above still applies: the move is still effectively one-way, and the new rewards do not change that.253253254254Shop Discount255255256256Patch 1.04 improves the prices of goods sold by Greymane NPCs so that they can be bought at a ten percent discount. The discount applies to Kliff as the player character and extends everywhere Kliff shops with Greymane vendors, not just inside the camp itself. Any traveling Greymane merchant, livestock vendor, or stocked camp shopkeeper encountered across Pywel now charges the reduced price by default. See Camp Vendors for the full vendor directory and Camp Buildings for the in-camp shop list.257257258258The discount stacks cleanly with any other trade benefits Kliff accumulates from maxed merchant trust, so it is worth checking back at long-familiar vendors now that prices across the entire faction are lower. Practically, this turns every silver payout from a dispatch mission into a bit more buying power, which matters most for the late-game expansion tiers where armament bottlenecks are the pacing issue.259259260260New Furniture261261262262Five new furniture and storage items can now be placed inside the player house through housing mode. All five are compatible with any of the four layouts introduced above. Three of the five need a specific quest or crafting recipe to obtain, while the remaining two are stocked at the furniture shop once the patch is installed.263263264264ItemSlotsHow to ObtainNotesSturdy Gatherables Chest1,000Purchased from the furniture shop. Placed through Personal Housing.Stores plants, ore, crafting reagents, and timber. Materials inside the chest can be pulled directly into crafting and refinement without being carried in Kliff's backpack.Kuku Cooler40Obtained through a new quest unlocked by Patch 1.04. Placed through housing mode.Dedicated cooler for food items and ingredients. Items stored here can be used for Cooking at the camp pot even when not carried in the inventory.Enhanced Kuku Cooler330Craftable once the blueprint is unlocked. Placed through housing mode.A straight upgrade over the basic Kuku Cooler. Shares the cook-from-storage behaviour, so ingredients stored here are still usable for recipes at camp.Collectibles Chest1,000Obtained through a new quest added by the patch. Placed through housing mode.Separate storage category for quest items and crafting recipes, so they no longer compete with consumables and gear for inventory slots.Wardrobe100 per unit (up to 10 units, 1,000 total)Purchased from the furniture shop. Placed through housing mode.Outfit-dedicated storage. Total capacity scales with the number of Wardrobe units placed, up to a combined ten units.265265Taken together, the five items roughly eliminate storage pressure as a pacing concern past the mid game. The combined theoretical capacity is 3,370 slots of storage across the four chest types plus another 1,000 slots across the full wardrobe set, all accessible from inside the camp. For layout suggestions and a walkthrough of the housing system itself, see Personal Housing and Housing and Farming.266266267267Merchant Supply Contracts268268269269Supply contracts are a late-unlocking camp convenience that the game barely signposts. Once Kliff has built up a friendly relationship with a merchant, that merchant will sell a regional supply contract that, once purchased, exposes their entire inventory from inside the Greymane Camp. After the contract is in hand there is no need to ride back to the merchant's shop; the menu for that region's goods becomes accessible directly from camp.270270271271How to unlock: Give gifts to merchants to raise their disposition. The accepted gifts vary by NPC, but a basic coin purse is the most reliable and universally accepted option. Once disposition is high enough, the merchant's dialogue exposes a new Supply Contract purchase line. Each contract is tied to a specific region (for example, an Equipment Supply Contract for Hernand) and only unlocks that merchant's wares at camp, so building up several contracts across Pywel is worth the time investment.272272273273Supply contracts pair well with the camp's own income loop. Dispatch missions generate the silver that pays for whatever the merchant stocks, and the merchant's goods feed back into crafting, ammunition, and consumable needs. The result is a self-sustaining loop where camp profits cover camp resupply without any additional travel. See Dispatch Missions for the income side of the equation.274274275275Repeatable Stronghold Missions276276277277Strongholds scattered across the world, like Hillside Manor near the City of Hernand, unlock their own dispatch boards once they are cleared. A subset of those dispatches, most notably escort and estate security missions, are flagged as repeatable. Once completed, they reset automatically and can be sent again without ever running out.278278279279Repeatable strongholds form the backbone of passive camp income. Comrades sent on an estate security mission collect the payout, and the mission re-lists immediately for the next cycle. As long as the Greymane Camp has enough food and silver on hand to cover the costs, the same handful of dispatches can fund the entire camp in the background while Kliff pursues story content. Matching comrades with the Escort skill to these missions further boosts the silver payout through the normal skill bonus mechanics.280280281281Prioritize clearing strongholds along the path of the main story so that each one adds to the pool of repeatable dispatches. Hillside Manor is the most accessible early example because it sits right next to Hernand, but every major region adds its own stronghold-style sites as the story opens up.
