Another Journey is Crimson Desert's multiplayer mode, planned for release as a free update after the main game launches on March 19, 2026. Similar to GTA Online's relationship with GTA V, it provides an additional multiplayer experience separate from the single-player campaign.
Pearl Abyss has emphasized that the single-player experience has its own definitive ending from day one. Another Journey is supplementary content rather than the core experience.
Unlike the single-player story where players must control Kliff Macduff, Another Journey allows players to create their own custom character. This represents a significant departure from the narrative-focused campaign.
Character creation details have not been fully revealed, but given Pearl Abyss's experience with Black Desert Online's acclaimed character creator, expectations are high for Another Journey's customization options.
A key feature of Another Journey is progression sharing with single-player. Any levels, items, or skills earned while playing the story campaign carry over to the multiplayer mode.
This integration rewards players who invest time in Kliff's journey before transitioning to multiplayer, giving them a head start with equipment and abilities already unlocked.
At launch, Crimson Desert will be strictly a single-player experience. Pearl Abyss has been clear that they want to focus on Kliff and the Greymanes' story without the distractions of multiplayer balancing.
This approach ensures the 50-80 hour campaign receives full attention before Another Journey introduces multiplayer elements. The exact release timing for Another Journey has not been announced.
While specific Another Journey features remain under wraps, players can expect cooperative and potentially competitive multiplayer activities set in Pywell's open world.
Pearl Abyss's experience operating Black Desert Online as a live-service MMO suggests Another Journey will receive ongoing support and content updates after its release.
