Revision - dual blades - Chrono Odyssey Wiki

The Dual Blades are one of the three weapons available to the Swordsman, alongside the Greatsword and the Sword and Shield. A Swordsman equips two of the three and swaps between them in combat, so the Dual Blades are played as one half of a pair. Korean coverage of the closed beta renders the weapon as dual swords, which is the same weapon under a different translation.

Playstyle

The Dual Blades are the sustained damage option. Attack speed is high and cooldowns are short, so damage arrives as a steady stream rather than in the Greatsword large single hits, with occasional bigger strikes folded in. Mobility is the other half of the appeal: several skills close or break distance, which makes the weapon the easiest way for a Swordsman to move through a fight rather than stand in it.

Critical hits are the scaling axis. One skill raises critical rate and, once enhanced, critical damage; a passive doubles critical damage outright; and Shock, the weapon status effect, is applied by both a passive and an enhanced skill and then paid out by a second passive. A Dual Blades rotation is largely about keeping Shock on the target and critical buffs on yourself.

Switching to the Dual Blades immediately generates 50 Rage, the largest single burst of the resource available to the class. That is the clearest argument for treating the swap as part of the rotation rather than a situational button.

Threat, Tanking and Counters

The Dual Blades are the reason a Swordsman can flip roles without changing weapons entirely. Threat on this weapon moves in both directions. The recorded closed-beta table shows the reduction side explicitly: every hit of the main combo applied a stacking threat reduction that ran up to ten stacks. Hands-on accounts of the same test also describe taunt and an aggro increase on the weapon, so which way the stack runs depends on which skills are slotted, and the buff carries over to the paired weapon after a swap.

Accounts differ slightly on what to call the defensive answer here. Some describe a parry that negates an incoming attack outright when timed correctly; others describe a separate counter and riposte rather than the timed block the Sword and Shield uses. What is consistent is that the input is not the shield block and that the payoff for landing it is large. See Parrying for the general mechanic.

Skills Recorded in the June 2025 Closed Beta

Every skill name, damage figure, resource cost and cooldown in this section was recorded during the closed beta that ran from June 20 to 22, 2025. Chrono Studio has since said that all classes will be rebalanced around the Matrix System, so read the table as a snapshot of that build rather than as current values. As of 2026-09-11 no revised skill numbers have been published for any class.

The Dual Blades carried four active skill lines and six passives in that build, matching the four skill slots each weapon holds alongside the class-common skills. Each skill line ran across three tiers. The first tier could be ranked up three times; the second and third tiers were single unlocks that either extended the skill with a follow-up or enhanced what it already did.

Active and Enhancement Skills

Quadruple Strike I	Active	Four strikes in quick succession for 195% damage at a cost of 28 Rage. Each hit applies a threat reduction that stacks to ten and lasts 15 seconds.
Quadruple Strike II	Enhancement	Critical strikes inflict Shock.
Quadruple Strike III	Enhancement	Landing Quadruple Strike cuts the cooldown of every Dual Blades skill by 1 second, on a 3-second cooldown.
Charging Strike I	Active	Charges forward for 164% damage and generates 40 Rage. 30-second cooldown.
Charging Strike II	Enhancement	Landing Charging Strike lowers the critical resistance of enemies hit by 30% for 15 seconds.
Charging Strike III	Enhancement	Grants a 30% chance to reset the Charging Strike cooldown on hitting an enemy.
Dual Stab I	Active	162% damage with Knockback, and raises critical rate by 20% for 15 seconds. 25-second cooldown.
Dual Stab II	Enhancement	Also raises critical damage by 20% for 15 seconds.
Dual Stab III	Enhancement	Landing a critical hit with the Dual Blades cuts the Dual Stab cooldown by 1 second, on a 3-second cooldown.
Storm Strike I	Active	A whirlwind attack for 225% damage that inflicts Knockback on nearby enemies. 50-second cooldown.
Storm Strike II	Enhancement	Inflicts Knockback on every critical hit Storm Strike lands.
Storm Strike III	Enhancement	Attacking enemies affected by Shock guarantees critical hits for 2 seconds.

Passives

Passive	Max ranks	Recorded effect
Dual Blades Mastery	3	Increases basic attack damage by 30%.
Savage Onslaught	3	Raises attack by 20% for 10 seconds on landing the final strike of a basic attack chain.
Duelist's Draw	1	Generates 50 Rage on switching to the Dual Blades, on a 30-second cooldown.
Perfect Opportunity	1	Increases critical hit damage by 100%.
Nimble Movement	3	Grants a 60% chance to inflict Shock with the final strike of a basic attack chain.
Empowered Shock	3	Deals 80% additional damage to enemies affected by Shock, triggering once per cooldown.

Weapon Mastery and the Matrix

Like every weapon, the Dual Blades carry their own Weapon Mastery track. It rises through use, is independent of character level, and is retained when the weapon is swapped out. Mastery unlocks the weapon skills and gates its Matrix System paths, of which there are four per weapon and twelve across the class. The Matrix was not part of the June 2025 build.
