11The Battle Axe is one of the three weapons available to the Berserker in Chrono Odyssey. It is the slow, heavy option: the lowest attack speed in the class traded for the biggest single hits, the most area damage, and a defensive layer of shields and Super Armor that none of the other two carry. A Berserker equips two of the class's three weapons at a time, so taking the Battle Axe means leaving either the Chain Blades or the Twin Axes behind.2233The Battle Axe was playable during the first Closed Beta Test from June 20-22, 2025. Everything labelled June 2025 on this page was recorded in that build and comes from a single community record of it. Chrono Studio has since stated that all classes will be re-evaluated for combat balance alongside the Matrix System, so the names, percentages and resource costs below are a point-in-time snapshot rather than launch behaviour.4455A handful of community write-ups from that period call the Berserker's third weapon a Great Axe. Battle Axe is the name used across the detailed skill records and the one this wiki uses.6677Role and Playstyle8899The Battle Axe offers the most area-focused kit the Berserker has. Three of its four recorded actives hit multiple targets, and the fourth generates the resource that keeps the others running. It handles single targets perfectly well, but it is the weapon a player picks when the answer to a pull is to stand in it and spin.10101111It is also the Berserker's tanking option. Steady Stance grants Super Armor on every skill cast, Battle Ready shaves incoming damage after every skill, and two separate passives grant a shield worth a large fraction of maximum health. Combined with the draw taunt, a Battle Axe Berserker can hold a pull rather than kite it.12121313Rage and the Whirlwind Loop14141515The Battle Axe has the tightest resource loop in the class. Whirlwind spends 2 Rage per spin and, on each hit, has a 50% chance to grant a Whirlwind stack. Raging Axe then converts those stacks straight back into Rage, generating up to 5 per second for 8 seconds scaled to the stacks held, at a rate of one Rage per stack. Spinning to build stacks, then cashing them in with Raging Axe, is what keeps the axe swinging instead of running dry. Spinning Cleave's final strike adds a flat 30 Rage on top.16161717That makes Rage management the skill ceiling on this weapon rather than positioning. See Class Resources for how Rage behaves across the classes that use it.18181919Blocking20202121The Battle Axe can block, and two of its recorded passives exist only to reward it: one applies Bleed to whatever was blocked, the other raises Attack by 30% for 10 seconds afterwards. That makes blocking an offensive action on this weapon rather than a purely defensive one. Blocking consumes Stamina in general, and a Guard Crush occurs at zero Stamina, which is covered on Parrying and Combat.22222323Recorded Skills (June 2025)24242525Each skill is a base active followed by two enhancement tiers, numbered I, II and III. Each entry carries the rank notation used in the recorded build sheet, such as 3/3 or 1/3. The sheet does not explain the notation; it reads as points invested against a skill's maximum ranks.26262727SkillRanksTypeRecorded effectWhirlwind I3/3ActiveSpins up to 20 times for 35.5% damage per strike, with each spin consuming 2 Rage. Reactivating the skill, finishing the final spin, or running out of Rage delivers a closing strike for 75.7% damage. Movement is allowed while spinning but Movement Speed drops by 40%. Each hit has a 50% chance to grant a Whirlwind stack.Whirlwind II1/1EnhancementReduces the initial cost of the skill.Whirlwind III1/1EnhancementApplies Bleed on hit and removes the Movement Speed penalty.Raging Axe I3/3ActiveStrikes an enemy down for 163.5% damage with Knockdown. On hit, generates up to 5 Rage per second for 8 seconds based on the number of Whirlwind stacks held, at one Rage per stack.Raging Axe II1/1EnhancementExtends the Rage generation window to 12 seconds.Raging Axe III1/1EnhancementRaises the damage of Raging Axe to 204.4%.Sever I3/3ActiveA ground slam for 137.2% damage with Bleed. A full charge raises damage to 205.9% and widens the radius.Sever II1/1EnhancementA fully charged Sever inflicts Knockdown and grants a shield worth 15% of maximum health.Sever III1/1EnhancementHalves the charge time and applies 2 stacks of Bleed on a full charge.Spinning Cleave I3/3ActiveA spinning attack for a total of 271.4% damage. Each hit launches enemies into the air and applies Knockback, with the final strike applying Knockdown. Grants Super Armor while in use.Spinning Cleave II1/1EnhancementRaises damage to 339.3%, or to 441.3% against a Bleeding target.Spinning Cleave III1/1EnhancementStuns for 4 seconds and generates 30 Rage on the final strike.2828Passives29293030PassiveRanksRecorded effectSteady Stance3/3Grants Super Armor for 10 seconds when a skill is cast.Tenacity2/3Grants a shield worth 50% of maximum health for 10 seconds while health is below 30%.Battle Ready3/3Using a skill cuts incoming damage by 6% for 5 seconds.Taunting Shift1/3Drawing the Battle Axe taunts nearby enemies for 5 seconds and cuts their Attack by 20% for 10 seconds.Bloody Retaliation1/1Applies Bleed when an attack is blocked.Resilient Wrath1/1Blocking an attack raises Attack by 30% for 10 seconds.Perfect Balance1/3Landing 20 hits on a Bleeding enemy grants a shield worth 30% of maximum health for 10 seconds.Opportune Strike3/3A landed basic attack carries a 10% chance to recover 10 Stamina.3131Weapon Swapping32323333Drawing a weapon fires a passive tied to that weapon. For the Battle Axe that passive is Taunting Shift: switching to it taunts nearby enemies for 5 seconds and cuts their attack by 20% for 10 seconds. It is the only recorded Berserker draw passive that does anything for a group, which is why the Battle Axe is the half of a loadout a Berserker draws when a pull goes wrong. See Dual Weapon Switching for the full cross-class list.34343535Mastery and the Matrix36363737The Battle Axe carries its own Weapon Mastery track, raised by using the weapon and independent of character level. The Matrix System announced after the closed beta adds four progression paths per weapon on top of that, twelve across the Berserker's three weapons. The Matrix was not present in the June 2025 build, and no path names have been published.38383939See Also40404141Berserker - the class that wields the Battle AxeChain Blades - the reach and Bloodthirst optionTwin Axes - the single-target and survivability optionArmor - what a Berserker can actually wearWeapons - every class's weapon set
