Zhong Kui's Sword

Initial comprehensive article creation
The ghost-slaying sword is Zhong Kui's most iconic weapon. In virtually every painting, woodblock print, and statue of Zhong Kui across the last thousand-plus years of Chinese art, the sword is present. In Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the sword was prominently featured in the Gamescom 2025 trailer, carried by Zhong Kui's small goblin attendants.
The sword is a demon-slaying weapon granted to Zhong Kui by Yanluo Wang (or, in some versions, forged from Zhong Kui's own righteous fury). It has the power to cut down ghosts and demons that are invisible to mortals. The sword is often depicted as massive — disproportionately large for a human weapon, reflecting Zhong Kui's supernatural strength.
Zhong Kui is expected to fight with two weapons: the sword and a fan. This is a significant gameplay shift from Black Myth: Wukong, where the Monkey King's staff was the primary weapon. The sword/fan combination suggests a more varied combat style — the sword for heavy, sweeping attacks and the fan for crowd control, magic, or defensive techniques.
No gameplay footage has been shown, so the actual mechanics are unknown. But the trailer's emphasis on the sword's size and the ceremonial way the goblin attendants carried it suggests it will be treated as a weighty, powerful weapon rather than a fast one.
