The Divine Mechanism Manuals (《神机要术》, Shenji Yaoshu) are a set of forty-nine volumes named in the official store description of A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei. They are the object the game's premise turns on.

The Premise

The store copy sets the scene with the dynasty more than two hundred and fifty years old and its mandate close to spent. It states that the volumes have been scattered across the world, and that gathering all forty-nine is the only way to reforge the dragon vein and extend the dynasty's life. This places the manuals at the centre of the story rather than at its edges: the collapse the Ming Dynasty setting is built around is presented as reversible, and the manuals are what would reverse it.

What Is and Is Not Known

Reading the Name

神机 carries a sense of divine or ingenious workings, and 要术 denotes an essential treatise or set of methods, so the title reads roughly as essential arts of divine mechanism. The phrasing sits in the same register as the classical couplets the store copy uses for its section headings, and the wiki uses Divine Mechanism Manuals as a working English rendering because no official English name has been published.

Care is warranted here. The manuals appear so far only in marketing prose, not in any playable build, and none of the hands-on demos have shown them. Their role in the finished game should be treated as unconfirmed until the developer demonstrates it.
