9 Yin Sutra: Wuxia is a nonlinear, highly freeform open-world game set in the jianghu, in development at Snail Games. It was revealed at gamescom in August 2026 alongside a Steam listing, and the studio published an official question-and-answer post the following day that settled several points the trailer left open.

The most important of those: it is not an MMO. The studio has stated directly that the game is designed primarily as a single-player experience, with the goal of delivering an unprecedented level of immersion in a living wuxia world. It is also not a remake or a visual overhaul of an earlier game, but an entirely new title within the 9 Yin Sutra franchise.

What the Game Is About
Players take the role of a wanderer in the jianghu, the martial world of wuxia fiction, and are given no fixed path through it. The studio frames the options plainly: become a wandering hero who stands against injustice and punishes the wicked, withdraw into the mountains to master rare martial arts, or plunge into the power struggles of the jianghu and fight to become leader of the martial world.
Around that sit systems for gathering resources, crafting equipment, concocting medicines, and building structures. The stated design principle is that there is no single highest peak: players define their own summit and become a grandmaster unlike any other.
Core Systems
System | Summary |
|---|---|
A continuous world running from the waterways of Jiangnan to frontier deserts, Central Plains cities, and southwestern mountains, with dynamic weather. | |
The classic Feint-Overt-Block system, comprehensively overhauled. | |
Signature moves from a hundred schools, inner strength, and meridians. | |
Caves, peaks, fishing, and herb gathering, shaped by weather. | |
NPCs with individual personalities, routines, and relationships with each other. | |
Equipment forging, medicine concoction, and structure building. |
Franchise Context
The studio has described this as a brand-new entry that shares the same roots and the same commitment to authentic wuxia as the earlier 9 Yin Sutra games, with its presentation refined so that a global audience can connect with the culture and ideas behind it. It is not a continuation of any specific earlier title's content.
A separate title, 9 Yin Sutra: Immortal, was announced by the same studio in the same period. It is a different game and nothing about it applies here.
