11Fishing Rods are the primary tools for the Angler profession in Starsand Island. Better rods reduce line tension during catches, making it easier to reel in rare and high-tier fish. Rods are unlocked progressively as you advance through the Angler profession tiers with Delphin at the AquaBlue Outpost. There are 12 fishing rods currently available in the game, ranging from the basic Wooden Rod to the endgame Titanium Rod. Additional rods exist in the game files but have not yet been released.2233How Fishing Tension Works4455When you hook a fish, a tension bar appears on screen. The bar fills as the fish fights against the line. If the bar fills completely, the line snaps and you lose the catch. Better rods reduce the rate at which tension builds, giving you more time to reel in the fish.667788This is especially important for rare species in the deep-sea fishing zones (Coral Sea, Luminwave, Celestwave), where fish are larger and fight harder. King Fish in particular require high-tier rods; attempting them with a low-tier rod will almost certainly result in a snapped line.991010Each cast costs 10 Energy regardless of which rod you use. Bring stamina-restoring food on extended fishing trips to avoid running out of energy.11111212All Fishing Rods13131414The tables below list every fishing rod, its Angler profession tier, crafting recipe, Worktable tier required to build it, and the blueprint cost from Delphin's shop. It works for basic freshwater fishing but struggles with anything larger. The Chrono Rod is a meaningful upgrade and should be your first crafting priority once you have access to Copper Ingots from the Moonlit Forest. Its blueprint costs 800 Coins at Delphin's shop.20202121Junior Angler Rods22222323RodWorktableBlueprint CostMaterialsNotesSilent RodWorktable IN/A3 Copper Ingot, 2 Carbon Line, 3 CharcoalQuieter presentation; good for skittish fish species.Cloud RodWorktable IN/A3 Softwood Plank, 10 Fiber, 3 Copper IngotReliable mid-game rod. Consumes a Chrono Rod as a component.2424The Noble Rod is the critical milestone in the rod progression. It is the minimum rod required to fish comfortably in deep-sea fishing zones. Note that crafting the Noble Rod consumes your Chrono Rod, so you will not have both simultaneously. The Silent Rod and Cloud Rod are solid alternatives for freshwater fishing if you want to save your Chrono Rod for now.25252626Intermediate Angler Rods27272828RodWorktableBlueprint CostMaterialsNotesSolar RodWorktable III9,000 Coins1 Rod Shaft, 2 Fishing Line, 6 Alloy, 5 Spring, 5 Magnet, 1 Noble RodTop-tier rod. It is one of the best fishing rods in the game and provides minimal tension on even the rarest catches, including King Fish. However, crafting it consumes your Noble Rod, so make sure you are ready to commit before building it.30303131Senior Angler Rods32323333RodWorktableBlueprint CostMaterialsNotesTitanium RodWorktable III25,000 Coins1 Rod Shaft, 2 Fishing Line, 6 Eternal Alloy, 5 Lunar Crystal, 5 Chip, 1 Solar RodBest rod in the game. Same recipe as Lost Angler's.3434The Titanium Rod is the strongest fishing rod in the game. Its 25,000-Coin blueprint makes it the most expensive rod to unlock, and crafting it consumes your Solar Rod along with rare materials like Eternal Alloy, Lunar Crystals, and Chips. The Lost Angler's Rod, Divine Rod, and Dawnbreak Rod share an identical recipe (5 Rod Shaft, 7 Fishing Line, 10 Rubber) and offer similar performance. These three are cosmetic or thematic variants rather than strict performance upgrades over each other.35353636Expert Angler Rods37373838RodWorktableBlueprint CostMaterialsNotesAstra RodWorktable IIIN/A5 Rod Shaft, 7 Fishing Line, 10 RubberExpert-tier rod with minimal tension on rare catches.Wanderer's RodWorktable IIIN/A1 Rod Shaft, 2 Fishing Line, 6 Alloy, 5 Spring, 5 MagnetAdvanced Expert rod. Same base recipe as the Solar Rod but does not consume a previous rod.3939The Wanderer's Rod uses the same base recipe as the Solar Rod but does not require a Noble Rod as a component, making it a good alternative if you want to keep your Noble Rod available. The Astra Rod shares its recipe with the three Senior alternate rods.40404141Upgrade Chains42424343Four rods in the game consume a previous rod as a crafting component, creating a direct upgrade chain:44444545Wooden Rod > Chrono Rod > Noble Rod > Solar Rod > Titanium Rod46464747This means if you plan to eventually craft the Titanium Rod, you will go through four upgrade steps. Each step consumes the previous rod: the Chrono Rod requires a Wooden Rod, the Noble Rod requires a Chrono Rod, the Solar Rod requires a Noble Rod, and the Titanium Rod requires a Solar Rod. Plan ahead and do not sell or discard rods in the chain.48484949Rods outside this chain (Silent Rod, Cloud Rod, Lost Angler's Rod, Divine Rod, Dawnbreak Rod, Astra Rod, Wanderer's Rod) are standalone crafts that do not consume other rods.50505151Blueprint Costs52525353Rod blueprints are purchased from Delphin's shop at the AquaBlue Outpost. Not all rods require a purchased blueprint; some are unlocked automatically or through quest rewards. The four main upgrade chain rods have confirmed blueprint prices:54545555RodBlueprint CostAngler Tier RequiredWooden RodFree (given by Delphin)Apprentice AnglerChrono Rod800 CoinsApprentice AnglerNoble Rod3,500 CoinsJunior AnglerSolar Rod9,000 CoinsIntermediate AnglerTitanium Rod25,000 CoinsSenior Angler5656The total blueprint cost for the full upgrade chain is 38,300 Coins. The Senior trial requires 20 different fish in the Aquarium, which means you need to fish across multiple locations and seasons. The Expert trial requires catching 2 King Fish, which are the rarest catches in the game and demand a high-tier rod.64646565Which Rod to Use66666767Use the best rod available for your current tier. There is no reason to use a lower-tier rod unless you enjoy the extra challenge. Each rod is a strict upgrade in terms of tension management.68686969StageRecommended RodWhyEarly game (freshwater)Chrono RodAffordable first upgrade; handles most pond and river fishMid-game (freshwater + ocean)Cloud Rod or Noble RodCloud Rod for casual fishing; Noble Rod for deep-sea accessDeep-sea fishingNoble Rod minimumRequired for Coral Sea, Luminwave, and Celestwave zonesKing Fish huntingSolar Rod or higherKing Fish fight hard; lower rods will snap frequentlyEndgameTitanium RodMinimal tension on all catches; makes fishing almost trivial7070The jump from Cloud Rod to Noble Rod is the most significant milestone. It is a key component for the Silent Rod and is also used in other crafting recipes including bag expansions and the Plume Bow.80808181To craft Carbon Line, you need:82828383Crafting Station: Spinning WheelMaterials: 4 Fiber + 1 CharcoalCrafting Time: Approximately 5 seconds per unit84848585The Spinning Wheel blueprint can be purchased from Zerine's General Store and is available from the start of the game. Building the Spinning Wheel itself requires 5 Softwood Planks at a level-one Worktable. The Spinning Wheel also produces Fishing Lines and Hemp Ropes. Carbon Line can occasionally be found in treasure chests or received as NPC gifts, but crafting is the most reliable source.86868787Tips88888989Upgrade your rod as soon as each new tier becomes available. The tension reduction makes fishing faster and less frustrating. The Noble Rod is a critical milestone. Until you have it, deep-sea fish will snap your line frequently. Prioritize crafting it.Do not sell or discard the Chrono Rod if you plan to build a Noble Rod. Do not sell the Noble Rod if you plan to build a Solar Rod. Do not sell the Solar Rod if you plan to build the Titanium Rod. These rods are consumed as crafting components in the upgrade chain.Pair rod upgrades with the correct bait for maximum efficiency. A good rod with wrong bait still catches nothing.Endgame rods (Solar, Titanium) make catching rare fish almost trivial. Prioritize the Senior Angler trials if fishing is your main income source. Each cast costs 10 Energy. Bring stamina-restoring food on long fishing trips, especially deep-sea excursions where you cannot easily resupply.Check the all fish article for which fish require which minimum rod tier. The three alternate Senior rods (Lost Angler's, Divine, Dawnbreak) share identical recipes. Pick whichever one appeals to you visually; there is no meaningful performance difference between them. The full upgrade chain (Wooden to Titanium) costs 38,300 Coins in blueprints alone. Start saving early if you plan to pursue the Titanium Rod.Rod Shafts and Fishing Lines are intermediate components required by most mid-to-late game rods. Keep a supply of these ready at your Gear Smith and Spinning Wheel to avoid crafting delays.
