11The Crossbow is one of the three weapons available to the Ranger, and the class's sustained-damage ranged option. Some beta-era descriptions call it dual hand crossbows, reflecting the paired weapons the Ranger holds; the in-game weapon slot is a single Crossbow entry. A Ranger who brings it pairs it with either the Bow or the Rapier.2233At a Glance4455AttributeDetailClassRangerRoleSustained ranged damage and group clearClass resourceVigorPaired withBow or RapierSkill slotsFour, alongside the class-common skillsBeta statusPlayable in the first closed beta test66How the Crossbow Plays7788Where the Bow asks for a charge and a clean line, the Crossbow asks for neither. It fires quickly, its aim requirements are forgiving, and it has no charge time, which makes it the more approachable of the Ranger's two ranged weapons and the one that rewards uptime over timing. Headshots carry a damage multiplier, so aim still matters for the ceiling even though it does not gate the floor.991010The weapon also folds evasive movement into its firing, so a Ranger can keep pressure on a target while repositioning rather than having to choose. That combination, constant output plus movement, is why beta guides treated the Crossbow as the best solo farming tool in the class and reached for it in longer fights where a single missed charged shot would cost more than a slightly lower per-hit number.11111212Precision13131414The Crossbow carries a stacking mechanic called Precision that no other Ranger weapon references. Rapid Fire Stance generates Precision stacks and Precise Shot builds Precision toward stronger critical hits, which places the weapon's whole skill list on a crit-scaling loop rather than a flat damage one.15151616What is not published, as of 2026-09-11, is what Precision actually is. No source states whether it is a second Ranger resource in the sense that Vigor is, or a stack that exists only while the Crossbow is drawn, nor how many stacks it holds, what each stack is worth, or whether stacks survive a weapon swap. It is documented here as a weapon mechanic because that is as far as the evidence goes. See class resources for the resources that are confirmed.17171818Skills Recorded in the June 2025 Beta19192020Every name below comes from the June 2025 closed beta build and is recorded by a single guide desk. Chrono Studio has said that all classes will be re-evaluated for combat balance alongside the Matrix rework, so treat the list as a snapshot of that three-day test rather than as launch behaviour. No damage percentage, resource cost or cooldown has been published for any Ranger skill, so none is given here.21212222SkillTypeEffectRapid Fire StanceActiveSustained damage that helps generate Precision stacks.Precise ShotActiveA reliable damage ability that builds Precision toward stronger critical hits.Butterfly DanceActiveA high-damage multi-hit skill suited to burst windows.Thrill of the HuntActiveA self-buff that raises damage output.Tornado ShotActiveThe weapon's strongest tool for clearing groups of enemies.2323Tornado Shot is the standout of the list and the reason the Crossbow was the preferred weapon for add waves and solo dungeon clearing. Thrill of the Hunt is the self-buff most beta rotations opened with, which is the source of the common pattern of starting a fight on the Crossbow and only then swapping to the Bow for burst.24242525Swap Behaviour26262727No swap passive has been published for the Crossbow. The Ranger's two recorded draw passives, Focused Draw and Piercing Blade, belong to the Bow and the Rapier respectively, and as of 2026-09-11 no source names an equivalent for the Crossbow. That absence may simply be a gap in what was recorded during a three-day test rather than evidence the weapon has none. See dual weapon switching for the recorded swap passives across every playable class.28282929Mastery and Matrix Paths30303131The Crossbow has its own weapon mastery track. Mastery unlocks the weapon's skills and passives, is independent of character level, and is retained when the weapon is unequipped, so rotating a loadout does not cost progress.32323333The Matrix System adds four progression paths on top of that, twelve across the Ranger's three weapons, with each weapon supporting four distinct combat styles. The Matrix was not in the closed beta build and no path names have been published for any weapon.34343535See Also36363737Ranger: the class the Crossbow belongs to.Bow: the Ranger's precision and burst option.Rapier: the Ranger's melee fallback.Weapons: the full per-class weapon list.Dual Weapon Switching: how the two equipped weapons swap in combat.Class Resources: what each class spends to use its skills.
