11Overview2233The Blast Hammer is an upgraded mining tool in Starsand Island. It is the second tier of hammer in the pickaxe upgrade chain, sitting above the Impact Hammer and below the endgame Electric Drill. The Blast Hammer breaks ore nodes faster than its predecessor and hits multiple adjacent nodes simultaneously with a small area-of-effect (AoE) impact, making it the most efficient manual mining tool in the game.4455Beyond mining, the Blast Hammer doubles as a melee weapon for close-range combat in the Moonlit Forest. While ranged weapons like the Plume Bow are generally preferred for boss fights, the Blast Hammer is effective for clearing regular enemies and breaking destructible objects in the forest.6677Crafting Details8899PropertyValueMaterials20x Premium Wood, 5x Alloy, 5x Starflare Crystal, 5x Rubber, 1x Impact HammerWorktableWorktable IIBlueprint Cost8,000 CoinsBlueprint SourceZerine's General StoreProfession TierIntermediate CrafterPrimary UseMining ore deposits, AoE node breakingSecondary UseMelee combat in Moonlit Forest1010How to Obtain11111212To craft the Blast Hammer, you need to follow the pickaxe upgrade chain. Crafted at Worktable II.Blast Hammer: Crafted from 20x Premium Wood, 5x Alloy, 5x Starflare Crystal, 5x Rubber, and 1x Impact Hammer. Blueprint from General Store (8,000 Coins). Crafted at Worktable II.15151616Each tier requires the previous tool as a crafting ingredient, so you cannot skip ahead. Plan your resource gathering and Crafter profession progression to unlock each tier in order.17171818Material Sourcing19192020Premium Wood21212222Premium Wood is harvested from White Fig trees using the Machete or Sharp Machete. White Fig trees grow in the deeper sections of the Moonlit Forest. You need the Machete (axe upgrade chain) to chop them. Twenty pieces is a substantial amount, so plan a dedicated wood-gathering trip into the forest.23232424Alloy25252626Alloy is smelted at Furnace II by combining Iron Ingots with other metal components. You need to progress through the Crafter profession to unlock Furnace II and the Alloy recipe. Iron Ore is mined in the Moonlit Forest once you have the Impact Hammer or better.27272828Starflare Crystal29293030Starflare Crystals are mined from glowing crystal deposits found in the deeper caves of the Moonlit Forest. You need at least the Impact Hammer to break these deposits. They are relatively rare, so collect them whenever you spot them during exploration.31313232Rubber33333434Rubber is crafted from Latex, which is tapped from Rubber Trees in the forest. The Rubber crafting recipe is unlocked through Crafter profession progression.35353636Pickaxe Upgrade Chain Comparison37373838Here is the full progression of mining tools from the starter Stone Pickaxe to the endgame Electric Drill:39394040ToolTierBlueprint CostKey FeatureStone PickaxeApprenticeFree (tutorial)Basic mining. It deals more damage per swing than the Impact Hammer and can hit multiple enemies in its AoE radius. However, melee combat in Starsand Island is generally less effective than ranged combat for several reasons:44444545Bosses like Crystalith, Glintortle, and the Ruin Guard have ranged attack patterns that punish melee approaches. The Plume Bow and Golden Bow deal more damage per hit when combined with Bomb Arrows.Ranged weapons let you kite enemies and avoid damage entirely.46464747That said, the Blast Hammer is useful for clearing groups of smaller enemies (corrupted creatures, slimes) without spending arrow ammunition. If you carry both the Blast Hammer and a bow into the forest, you can use the hammer for trash mobs and switch to the bow for bosses and elite enemies.48484949Tips50505151The Blast Hammer's AoE mining is its defining feature. Position yourself between two ore nodes and swing to break both at once. This cuts your mining time roughly in half compared to the Impact Hammer.Bring food that restores stamina before extended mining sessions. The Blast Hammer consumes more stamina per swing than the Impact Hammer, so you will burn through your energy bar faster.Do not sell or discard your Impact Hammer before crafting the Blast Hammer. The Impact Hammer is a required crafting ingredient. If you plan to skip straight to the Electric Drill, the Blast Hammer is still worth crafting for the mid-game. The gap between Intermediate and Expert Crafter ranks is long, and the Blast Hammer makes that period much more productive.Pair the Blast Hammer with the Plume Bow when exploring the Moonlit Forest. Use the hammer for mining and melee, and switch to the bow for ranged combat and boss fights.
