11The Galactic League is the underground racing circuit at the center of Star Wars: Galactic Racer. It is unsanctioned and lawless, a product of the power vacuum left after the Empire fell, when the New Republic was still struggling to rebuild and the Outer Rim was effectively running itself. Racing filled the gap. The League is where pilots fight for money, reputation, and a shot at the top, and it is the thing that gives the whole game its shape.2233Origins445+56The League was founded by Darius Pax, whose stated reason was about as plain as it gets: the galaxy needs racing. Pax built the circuit, and by the time the game starts he has stepped back into a recruiter's role. He enlists Shade specifically to unseat the current champion, because the circuit he created has slipped out of his control.6778How the circuit works89910Criminal syndicates bankroll the League by sponsoring pilots. The sponsorship is the money behind the chaos, and it is what lets the races happen at all. No individual syndicate has been named yet, so the rosters of who backs whom are still unknown. What is confirmed is the relationship: pilots need backers, and the syndicates supply them.10111112Competition runs as tours rather than single races. A tour is a randomized sequence of acts across several worlds, and entering one requires a League Entry Token. Wreck out by crashing too much or by failing to place near the front, and the Token is pulled, sending you back to qualify again. The full structure is described in Runs and Tours.12131314The reigning champion14151516Kestar Bool holds the League championship as the game opens, and he is not a gracious holder of it. He is genuinely talented, but he uses his position to threaten and intimidate other pilots, and he has corrupted the circuit in the process. Darius Pax recruiting Shade against him is the central thread of the campaign. Shade also carries a personal grudge against the Bool family, which makes the rivalry more than a sporting one.16171718Where it sits in the galaxy18191920The League stretches across the Outer Rim, and a tour can carry pilots through roughly six distinct worlds before it ends. Those worlds and the special arena built to host the League are covered in Planets and Circuits. In broader Star Wars lore the Outer Rim has always been the galaxy's rougher frontier, which fits a racing circuit that answers to syndicates rather than to any government.
