Closed Playtest
October 14, 2026 at 12:32 AM
Initial version (2026-10-14)
The Sagas of Lumin closed playtest is a limited test of the game that began on Steam on September 23, 2026. It replaced the removed Demo as the way players can try the game before its February 5, 2027 release. The studio first called it a closed beta, and it runs through a separate Steam app named Sagas of Lumin Playtest.
When the studio moved the release to February 5, 2027 on July 28, 2026, it said its priority would be getting the game to players through closed and open beta groups rather than a traditional demo. The official release date trailer on August 7, 2026 announced a highly limited closed beta for September, with beta keys available only through the game's Discord community. Applications opened on September 15, 2026.

The first wave let in 500 players on September 23, 2026. After more than 6,000 people applied, the studio announced on October 2, 2026 that it would invite another 500, which brings the announced total to 1,000 invitations. Invited players are asked to fill out an in-game feedback survey after their sessions and to join the Discord community to talk to the team. The studio has said the purpose of the test is to polish the game for launch with a large group of players giving honest feedback.
Alongside the expansion, a 6-minute uncut gameplay video from the closed beta build premiered through a major games outlet and was also posted on the official channel. The studio described it as showing aerial dogfights and ground combat, with players moving between the two. When a player asked about a dragon that appeared in what looked like a cutscene, the CEO replied: "Everything you see in our cutscenes is actually gameplay footage."
Beyond the video and its description, the studio has not published a list of what the playtest build contains as of October 2026. The systems it has shown are covered on Aerial Combat and Ground Combat.
The July 2026 announcement mentioned open beta groups as part of the plan. As of October 2026, no open beta has been announced and no date has been given.
