11On 17 September 2026 Hideo Kojima closed the XBOX Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast with a recorded statement covering OD and PHYSINT. For PHYSINT it was the first presentation under Xbox, one week after the change of publisher, and it did three things: it announced Bill Skarsgård in the lead role, it released a second poster, and it gave the first progress statement since the cancellation notice of June 2026. This page covers the PHYSINT segment only. Nothing said about OD applies here.2233ItemDetailDate17 September 2026SettingA recorded video statement by Kojima, roughly four minutes long, placed at the end of the XBOX Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast. He said the two were "long-time fans of each other's work" and had "decided to embark on this new adventure together", and that "there are still many exciting cast announcements to come in the future". The studio's press release repeated the casting line and added that the costume fittings, scans and camera tests with Skarsgård and Fraser earlier in 2026 had given him "tremendous confidence in the direction of the project". The character Skarsgård plays has no published name, and no story function has been described for any of the four announced actors. Their pages are on Cast.7788The second poster9910+1011The poster is a square image built from a photograph Kojima said he took of the two actors during that session. It is a photograph of performers rather than an image from a build, and it is the first PHYSINT image of performers or characters since the September 2025 key visual.11121213ElementWhat the poster carriesBillingBill Skarsgård, Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, Minami Hamabe, in that orderTitle treatmentThe PHYSINT logo with "A Hideo Kojima Game" set vertically beside itTagline"The next Cold War begins"Credits lineScenario: Hideo Kojima. The credits line is the first time anyone other than Kojima has been credited on the project: Yoji Shinkawa, for character and mechanical design. And the tagline is the first thematic phrase PHYSINT has published. It is a tagline, not a premise: nothing has been said about the setting, period or conflict it refers to, and this wiki does not infer one. The MetaHuman and 3Lateral marks credit character technology partners and do not name a game engine; no engine has been announced. The poster and the clip are items ten and eleven on Media and Assets.14151516What Kojima said about progress16171718The statement also carried the first status update since the change of publisher: "The project continues to make steady progress. We're also making progress on casting, talent scans, and collaborations with outside creators." He added that his "vision of the final form became much more solidified" after the costume, scan and camera sessions with the two actors, and called PHYSINT "the culmination of more than 40 years of my career: a project that will redefine 'action-espionage,' unbound by any existing genres in digital entertainment". He also said he had visited the Xbox offices in Redmond earlier in 2026 and that the two companies were working together on two new IPs. The remarks name areas of work, not milestones; see Development Status. His statements are collected on Hideo Kojima on PHYSINT.18191920What was not shown20212122SurfaceStatus at the broadcast, and as of 2026-09-21Gameplay footageNone.
