Sunward Island has nine Strange Tales built around local Anomalies, conversations and unusual interactions. Several depend on the in-game clock or weather. These steps cover the encounter itself; a time-limited event can have its own separate reward window.
Before starting
Activate the island phone booth to shorten return trips. Use the in-game Time System for the times below. If an expected NPC is missing, advance the clock by 30 minutes, or enter a Character Trial and leave it to refresh the scene. Finish the current conversation before changing time.
Sea Bubbles
At about 08:00, visit the northern beach and speak with Ms. Bulan and her son.
Swim in the nearby water until bubbles surround your character. Keep swimming until Stamina runs out and the game returns you to the beach. This completes the encounter.
For the optional explanation, return to the northern beach at about 20:00 and speak with the Haggard Tourist. Visit Ms. Bulan again at about 08:00 to learn more about the Anomaly. These conversations follow completion rather than replacing the swim.
Ghost Tunnel
Set the clock to about 22:00, mount a vehicle and drive through the coastal tunnel west of the resort. Seeing the first few ghosts completes the tale. Continue through the tunnel if you want to see the remaining scenes; you do not need to finish every ghost scene for the initial completion.
Flying Fish
Find the two Rodsnappers talking near the rocky fishing point on the northwestern coast. After their conversation, fish at the nearby chair. Universal Bait is sufficient. Catch a Red, Blue or Green Scales Banner; any one of those fish completes the tale.
Sewer Serpent
Read the message in a bottle on the northern beach. It gives the clue for the Strange Firestone and the password.
Find the broken boat at the encounter site and check the bag inside to obtain the Strange Firestone.
Use it at the nearby campfire. Defeat the Saddy Teddy if it interferes.
Set the clock to about 20:00 and change the weather to Rainy. Find the kneeling man on the beach.
Speak with Sewer Serpent and choose Adurag. Either answer in the following choice works.
Great Jerry
Visit the southwestern shoreline between 20:00 and 06:00. Speak with Great Jerry, choose the first dialogue option, then speak again and choose the first option a second time.
Return to the resort and go upstairs. Speak with Ken and the Arid Angler beside the table holding the sword.
Take the sword back and use the Toss into the Fire interaction at the bonfire.
Speak with Jerry again beside the grounded boat to finish.
Jerry uses a different sword from the three fragments in Golden Sword. Complete each encounter with its own items.
Speaking Well
Find the ivy-covered well in the grounds south of the resort. Water is available on the table near the fence. Pour water into the well to complete the tale. Returning at about 20:00 lets you hear the optional story from inside it.
Weather Bell
Go to the bell near the lighthouse and ring it. That interaction completes the tale and changes the weather. The bell can also help when you are preparing the rainy-night conditions for Sewer Serpent.
Dance Dance Dance
Read the notice at the entrance to the lighthouse compound. It asks visitors to return at 22:00 and play music.
At 22:00, equip the Cubox Portable Player and play music. Music from a scooter or motorcycle is another option.
Enter the compound to see the dancing Anomalies and complete the encounter.
Golden Sword
Look for the broken sword among three marked trees near the island center. Read the clues and set the clock to about 22:00 so the glowing trees are easier to identify.
Collect the Broken Blade from the glowing tree near the lighthouse.
Teleport to the island phone booth and head directly west to the tree holding the Broken Guard.
Collect the Broken Hilt from the glowing tree south of the resort.
Return to the broken sword and submit all three pieces. The completed scene lights up the marked trees.
Checking a missing completion
Separate required interactions from the optional conversations. Sea Bubbles needs the Stamina-depletion swim, Great Jerry needs the final conversation after the fire, and Golden Sword needs all three submitted fragments. For a missing night encounter, check the in-game hour, weather and local approach before repeating unrelated steps.
