11The Docks are the working waterfront at the base of Nivalis, where the player's boat is moored and the rented greenhouses stand. They are one of exactly five locations labelled on the first-party city map published on 11 September 2026, captioned "NIVALIS CITY MAP", alongside Seaside Boardwalk, Skyhigh Gardens, Meridian Market and the player's home.2233For the player the Docks function less as a place to sightsee and more as a base of supply. Two of the game's three ingredient-sourcing routes run through them, and both fishing and greenhouse farming are anchored here. The accompanying brochure panel, titled "SET SAIL & GO FISHING", puts it this way: "From quiet daytime fishing to the gentle rhythm of the sea at sunset, the docks offer a different side of our city."4455Where the Docks Sit6677Nivalis is a vertical city built above the sea, and the Docks are at the bottom of it, at the waterline where the structure meets the ocean. On the city map, which is drawn as a side-on elevation of the skyline rather than an overhead plan, the Docks label points down and to the left, landing on the lowest inhabited band of the city near the water, toward the right-hand end of the skyline. Directly below it the water is open, with a low vessel and the city's support structures visible in the haze.8899The Docks are close to Meridian Market, the commercial district where the player starts and inherits a noodle bar. That proximity is not incidental: it is what makes early-game logistics manageable, because the greenhouse and the fishing boat sit within easy reach of the business they supply. A player in their first hours can work a shift at the bar, walk down to the water, check the crops, take the boat out, and be back in time for the evening service.10101111As of 13 September 2026 the developer has not stated whether the Docks are a self-contained district with their own loading boundary, in the way Meridian Market is, or an area within a neighbouring district. The map labels them a location, not a district, and no first-party source has been more specific.12121313Your Boat14141515The player gains a personal boat early in the game, moored near the city's lower levels. It is a small working vessel rather than anything fast or decorative, sized to fit the cramped channels that run between and beneath the pillars holding Nivalis above the sea. The player pilots it in first person, and it is the closest thing to driving a vehicle that the game offers: taxis, trains and HOVAs are all ridden as a passenger.16161717Pre-release footage shows the boat from the helm: a first-person view over a dashboard, rain streaking the glass, offshore rigs and another vessel out on the water, and later a rod cast from the deck at sunset. Salt Pete's dialogue in the same footage refers to a boat called "The Putter" and asks whether the player is "the new Mariner", which reads as a role or title, though neither term has been explained in text.181819192020The 2026 brochure gives the boat an emotional role as well as a practical one: "Your boat becomes both your tool and your refuge, the perfect place to rest after a long day at sea!" That framing of the boat as somewhere to rest, rather than purely as fishing equipment, is new to the launch-period marketing and has not been expanded on.21212222The boat stays wherever it is left. A player can park at an unfamiliar pier, climb into a district on foot, and return hours later to find it in the same place, which turns the boat into a movable staging point for exploring the lower city rather than a vehicle that must always be returned home. See transportation for how the boat compares with the city's other travel options.23232424Fishing25252626Fishing is the reason most trips to the Docks happen. It is not a relaxation side activity bolted onto the business game; the fish pulled out of the waterways go directly into the dishes on the player's menus, which makes a fishing run a supply operation with a direct line to revenue. Fresh catch is a high-value ingredient, and dishes built around it are described as commanding better prices and stronger customer reactions than the store-bought equivalent.27272828The waters below the city are simulated rather than abstracted, with more than a thousand individually modelled fish able to appear on screen at once, swimming in shoals that follow one another and track bait. Because the fish are real objects in the water rather than a result rolled when a line goes in, positioning matters more than luck. The full article on fishing covers the mechanics, the underwater simulation and the ocean's unexplained contents in detail.29293030The Greenhouses31313232Nivalis has no room for fields, so agriculture happens inside greenhouses, and those greenhouses are located near the Docks. They are rented rather than owned outright, and the brochure's panel on them is headed "RENT A GREENHOUSE". Inside, control consoles set temperature, humidity and light, and the balance between those three determines how fast and how well crops grow.33333434Because the greenhouses and the boat share the same area, a single trip down to the water can do double duty: adjust the console settings, collect whatever is ready, and then head out on the water. That overlap is what makes the Docks a genuine hub rather than two unrelated errands in the same postcode. Greenhouse farming has the full treatment of crops, modules, seeds and delegation to managers.35353636Sourcing and the Local Shops37373838There are three ways to stock a kitchen in Nivalis: buy from vendors, catch fish, or grow produce. The Docks are where two of those three happen, and they also shape the third. Shops near the water tend to stock seafood and marine-adjacent products, while vendors higher up the city carry more refined and more expensive goods, so what is cheaply available at street level near the Docks is not what is available in the upper tiers.39394040That gives the area a distinct economic character. Prices across the city move with supply and demand, and sourcing fresh fish from a dock supplier is treated as its own transaction type alongside buying produce from a market stall or imported goods from a specialty seller. See economy and dynamic pricing and cooking and recipes for how sourcing feeds into pricing and menus.41414242Weather and Planning a Trip43434444Weather in Nivalis is a gameplay system, not decoration, and it bears directly on whether a trip to the Docks is worth making. Planning those trips around the forecast is part of the daily calculation.45454646ConditionEffect on a trip to the DocksSunshineClear days are the safest and most straightforward for fishing expeditions, and the default choice for a run on the water.RainFoot traffic moves indoors across the city. With fewer customers at outdoor venues, a rainy day is a natural window for greenhouse work instead.FogVisibility on the waterways drops and boat navigation becomes trickier. The lower levels become more enclosed and atmospheric, which some players treat as a reason to go rather than a reason to stay in.SnowOutdoor movement falls sharply across the city and heating demand pushes energy prices up.ThunderstormsThe most extreme condition. Trips on the water become unpleasant or risky, and most people are sheltering indoors.4747The greenhouses are unaffected internally, since the whole point of an enclosed growing space is that the weather outside stays outside, but the weather still steers the decision about which half of the Docks to spend the afternoon on. Weather and its effects covers the five conditions and their wider consequences.48484949Atmosphere at Water Level50505151The waterways are their own environment rather than a corridor to fishing spots, and what is down there says a good deal about life at the bottom of a vertical city: rusted infrastructure, makeshift docks, graffiti sprayed on the support columns, and the occasional other boat going about its business. The sky is barely visible through the layers of structure overhead. At night the channels take their light from neon above and from the fish themselves, which emit their own glow.52525353The brochure leans into the calm of it, contrasting "quiet daytime fishing" with "the gentle rhythm of the sea at sunset" and framing the whole area as "a different side of our city" from the crowded streets above. The quieter pace is presented as deliberate: a place the game gives the player permission to slow down in, even while technically still working.54545555The Docks in a Day56565757A day in Nivalis runs from waking in the apartment to a hard curfew at 2 AM, and everything has to fit inside that window. In the daily routine the Docks typically occupy the middle of the day: a midday run out on the water, a few fish caught, and those fish cooked into dishes served that evening. A short trip that lands a few high-value catches is worth more than a long one that fills the hold with common fish, because the hours spent on the water are hours not spent behind the counter or building relationships.58585959What Is Not Yet Known60606161The Docks are referenced across much of the game's published material but described in little of it. As of 13 September 2026 the following are unstated rather than absent:62626363Status as a district. Whether the Docks are a separately loaded district or part of an adjoining one has not been published.Business ownership. No source says whether the player can operate a venue at the Docks, as opposed to sourcing goods there.Named characters. No text source has placed a character at the Docks. Salt Pete, the sailor with opinions about what lives under the ocean, is associated with the Calypso Island port area; in pre-release footage he appears at a waterside spot beside a danger sign and a life ring, but the location is not labelled, so it cannot be tied to the Docks.Layout. The number of moorings, the position of the greenhouses relative to the boat, and the routes connecting the Docks to the districts above are all undescribed.64646565The developer has said further information is planned before the 29 September 2026 launch, so this page is written against a moving target.
