Overview
The Great Wall Guard Army (长城守卫军, Chángchéng Shǒuwèijūn) is a named military order in Honor of Kings: World. It is stationed along the Great Wall region of the continent's northern frontier and serves as the primary defensive force against incursions from the Northern Wilds (北荒). The unit is confirmed by Baidu Baike primary text, with two named playable Resonances belonging to it: Mulan and Kai. Mulan is explicitly identified as the leader of the Great Wall Guard Army, and Kai joined after the fall of the Haidu family.
Role and Purpose
The Great Wall Guard Army is an elite military force charged with defending the continent's northern frontier. Its mandate is to protect the settled, civilized regions south of the Great Wall from threats emerging out of the Northern Wilds, which include natural hazards, hostile nomadic tribes, and creatures drawn to the remnants of ancient Flow activity. The unit operates from fortresses and waystations along the Wall, maintaining watch rotations, patrolling the borders, and responding to incursions when they occur.
Confirmed Members
Mulan (花木兰) - Leader of the Great Wall Guard Army. A Confrontation Resonance in the S0 launch roster with a dual-form dual-wield-to-greatsword mechanic
Kai (铠) - A Confrontation Resonance and inheritor of the Demon Armor. Joined the Great Wall Guard Army after the fall of his family, the Haidu
Relationship to the Northern Wilds and Wolf Banner Tribe
The Great Wall Guard Army's defensive role places it in ongoing contact with the peoples and territories of the Northern Wilds. One key relationship is with the Wolf Banner tribe (狼旗), a nomadic people of the region to whom Wang Zhaojun was sent as a diplomatic envoy from the Han court. The Great Wall Guard Army's mandate of defense and Wang Zhaojun's mandate of diplomacy represent two different approaches to managing the northern relationship, and the tension or cooperation between them is likely to be explored in post-launch story content.
Haidu Family Backstory
Kai's family, the Haidu, are described in Honor of Kings lore as a formerly prominent house that fell from grace. The specific circumstances of their fall are not fully documented in public material, but the outcome is that Kai, as the eldest son, inherited the family's ancestral Demon Armor and eventually joined the Great Wall Guard Army. This gave him both a new purpose and a place in the orbit of Mulan as his commander. The Haidu backstory provides narrative depth to Kai's character beyond his combat identity.

The Great Wall Guard Army (长城守卫军), Mulan's role as its leader, and Kai's membership are all confirmed in Baidu Baike primary text. Specific details about the unit's structure, named fortresses, other member characters, and post-launch storyline will be documented as TiMi publishes more material on the Northern Wilds region.
