Overview
Gongsun Li is a Marksman and Ranged specialist hero in Honor of Kings: World who fights with a distinctive combination of a paper parasol and throwing daggers. She is one of the more mechanically demanding ranged heroes in the roster, with a kit that rewards precise positioning and aggressive use of her aerial mobility. Her signature parasol doubles as both a weapon and a defensive tool, giving her a unique combat identity among ranged characters.
Gongsun Li is defined by her independence. Unlike many ranged heroes who rely heavily on teammates to peel threats away from them, she has built-in self-peel capabilities that allow her to handle flanking enemies and close-range threats on her own. This makes her one of the most self-sufficient ranged damage dealers in the game.
Maple Mark Mechanic
Gongsun Li's basic attacks apply Maple Marks to enemies she hits. Each hit adds one stack, and the marks are visually displayed on the target as glowing maple leaf symbols. When a target accumulates four stacks of Maple Marks, all stacks detonate simultaneously in an area-of-effect explosion centered on the marked enemy.
The Maple Mark explosion deals significant bonus damage and also hits nearby enemies caught in the blast radius. This mechanic gives Gongsun Li's sustained attacks a built-in burst component: every fourth hit on a target triggers additional area damage. In group encounters, detonating Maple Marks on an enemy standing near its allies creates a cascade of area damage that amplifies her effectiveness against clustered targets.
Skills and Abilities
After using any of her skills, Gongsun Li's next few basic attacks become empowered throwing darts. These darts have longer range and slightly different trajectory compared to her standard attacks, and they apply Maple Marks at an accelerated rate. Weaving skills between basic attack sequences to trigger the dart follow-ups is central to her optimal damage rotation.
Gongsun Li possesses the ability to become airborne and move in any direction during the jump. This aerial movement skill is both an offensive tool for repositioning to better angles and a defensive tool for evading ground-targeted attacks. The directional flexibility of the jump means she can leap sideways, backward, or forward depending on the situation, making her evasion patterns difficult for enemies to predict.
Her parasol provides passive immunity to disarm effects. While other heroes can be stripped of their ability to attack by certain enemy skills, Gongsun Li's parasol protects her from this specific form of crowd control. This immunity is always active and does not consume any resource, making it a reliable defensive advantage in encounters where disarm effects are present.
Playstyle and Tips
Playing Gongsun Li effectively requires managing two rhythms simultaneously: the steady accumulation of Maple Marks through basic attacks, and the skill-dart-skill weave pattern that maximizes her damage output. Players who can maintain both rhythms while also using her aerial mobility to dodge incoming threats will find her extremely rewarding.
Her self-peel capability through aerial movement means she can operate more independently than most ranged heroes. In open-world exploration, this independence is valuable because she can handle surprise encounters without needing support. In group content, she can position aggressively to maximize Maiden's Trick range bonuses (if paired with distance-scaling equipment) without worrying as much about being punished for forward positioning.
The Maple Mark detonation is her primary burst tool. Against bosses with long health pools, the consistent four-hit detonation cycle provides reliable sustained damage. Against groups of weaker enemies, focusing attacks on the enemy at the center of the pack ensures the detonation explosion hits the maximum number of surrounding targets.
