Overview
The Amphitheater is the premier competitive venue in the world of Honkai: Nexus Anima. It hosts the Grand Championship, the highest-level Nexus Battle tournament, held every four years. Reaching the Amphitheater and competing in the Grand Championship is the ultimate aspiration for Animasters across the game's world.
Oversight
Sir Champion, the Novarch of Competition, runs the Grand Championship from the Amphitheater. As the entity governing the Aspect of Competition itself, his oversight gives the tournament a cosmological weight beyond ordinary sporting events.
Qualification
Championship Qualifiers are held at the Romanesque Hall, a former royal mansion from the Old World that has been repurposed as a competition arena. Animasters must fight their way through qualifying rounds before earning a spot at the Amphitheater itself.
The character Hua is a passionate young Animaster whose primary goal is making it through the qualifiers and reaching the Amphitheater. She is already popular in Lia and represents the aspirational competitive path that many Animasters follow.
Supporting Locations
Several locations in Lia support the competitive scene around the Amphitheater.
Aniwon Plaza: A sunken square directly in front of Lia's Arena, full of activity and casual duels
Kampete's Gallery of Wandering: A shop dedicated to the Grand Championship, filled with relics of past champions
Romanesque Hall: Former royal mansion repurposed as the Championship Qualifiers arena
Qualification Ladder
The path to the Amphitheater follows a tiered structure that mirrors real-world competitive circuits. Animasters begin at the local Arena in their home town, prove themselves there, then advance to regional championships. From the regional level, qualifying victories grant access to cross-Plane competition, with the Amphitheater sitting at the top as the final destination. The social hierarchy is explicit and aspirational, with each tier offering visible rewards and reputation.
Career Goal Framing
Reaching the Amphitheater and competing in the Grand Championship is presented as a career goal that defines characters' lives. Hua is the most prominent example in the early game, with his entire training arc oriented around qualifying. The Nexus Battles system itself emerged after The Sundering as a structured way to resolve conflict across the fractured 81 Planes, and the Amphitheater represents its cross-Plane apex.
