Darsea (Chinese: 黛汐, Japanese: ダーシア, Korean: 다르시) is a Sovereign in the world of Honkai: Nexus Anima, governing the paired Aspects of Memory and Oblivion. She is the younger sister of Kumyo Kyo, the 4th Sovereign. Darsea is deceased and does not actively appear in the current build of the game, but her death has had lasting consequences that drive much of the game's narrative.
After the Sundering, Darsea died under circumstances that remain unclear. Her death had major cosmological consequences: a disease called Oblivios emerged and spread across multiple Planes. Oblivios is an amnesia-like affliction that causes progressive memory loss in those it affects.
The player character recalls fragmented memories involving Darsea. In one fragment: "In my dreams, I vaguely recalled fragments of the Past: once, I traveled with Darsea and Parayaya. They were my friends..." This suggests the protagonist (revealed to be the World-Ender) had a deep personal connection to Darsea in a prior existence, before losing those memories.
Darsea's brother Kumyo Kyo sealed the World-Ender within the Plane of Illusion to fulfill a promise he made to her, sacrificing himself in the process. The spread of Oblivios after her death remains one of the central problems affecting the game's world, and understanding what happened to Darsea may be connected to finding a cure.
Sibling accounts confirm that Darsea was killed by the World-Ender specifically, rather than dying of unrelated causes. As the 10th Sovereign whose authority encompassed Memory itself, her death had cascading effects on the Aspect she governed. With no Sovereign holding the Memory and Oblivion pair, the Aspects destabilized, and the disease known as Oblivios emerged and spread across the New World.
Darsea's elder brother, Kumyo Kyo, made her a promise as she was dying. To fulfill that promise, he sealed the World-Ender within the Plane of Illusion for over 214 years, then vanished himself. This sealing required a tremendous personal sacrifice; Kumyo Kyo's current whereabouts remain unknown.
A surviving record describes Darsea as part of a friendship trio that included Parayaya and the figure who would later become the World-Ender. The account reads, in fragmentary form: "I traveled with Parayaya and Darsea. They were my friends..." This places Darsea at the heart of the catastrophe that led to The Sundering and the splintering of the Old World into 81 Planes.
