Overview
Armand was the 8th Sovereign, governing the paired Aspects of Light and Dark. When the Sundering split those Aspects, Armand kept Dark and became the 17th Novarch. The Light authority went to a monk named Prabhas, who became the 16th Novarch. What happened next was less straightforward than a peaceful transition. Armand imprisoned Prabhas.
The Sunbane Curse
Armand is afflicted by a condition called the Sunbane Curse. The exact nature of this curse hasn't been fully explained, but it's severe enough that Armand is desperate for a cure. His imprisonment of Prabhas (the Novarch of Light) appears to be motivated by this desperation. He's forcing research into overcoming the curse, and having the Novarch of Light under his control may be part of that effort.

The irony of a Novarch of Dark being cursed by something called "Sunbane" isn't subtle. If the curse is related to light or solar energy, it would explain both why Armand gave up the Light Aspect and why he needs Prabhas.
Kardia ability
Armand is a 5-star Kardia character. His Exclusive Principle is called "Petals Worth Plucking". When battle starts, it grants all allied units in his Umbral Shroud the ability to Terminate opponents below 10% Health. Dark-aspected Anima get a stronger version, they can Terminate opponents below 20% Health.
This is an execute mechanic. In fights where enemies have large health pools or healing, the Terminate threshold prevents them from lingering at low HP. It rewards teams that build around Dark Anima, doubling the execution window for those units.
Companion Anima
Armand's companion Anima is Waxula. Details about Waxula's Aspect and Trait haven't been fully documented.
Appearance
Armand is depicted as a tall, dark-haired man. Community comparisons have been drawn to Kaeya from Genshin Impact and Acheron from Honkai: Star Rail. His design carries an oni-inspired edge, fitting his association with the Dark Aspect.
