Shadow Trial

Re-checked and re-dated the undocumented-details note
Shadow Trial (暗影试炼) is a repeatable challenge mode in Honor of Kings: World that sits in the in-game gameplay manual (玩法手册) alongside the other instanced modes. It belongs to the activity modes introduced under the S1: World Beginning Season, and the official update notices of September 2026 are the first first-party documents to describe its parts: run-modifying affixes (词条), an elite tier called 静默之域, and a dedicated maintenance window separate from the rest of the game. It is not the same thing as the launch-window Shadow-Slaying Challenge (破敌灭影), which was a boss event with a Huanling reward.
Runs carry named affixes that change how the fight plays. Two are named in official notices so far.
Affix | What is known |
|---|---|
孤影绝鸣 | Its description text was rewritten for clarity in the September 10, 2026 update. The notice does not restate the effect. |
衔火 | A sustained health-loss effect. The September 17, 2026 update reduced the amount of health it drains over time. |
静默之域 is the trial's elite (菁英) difficulty. The September 17, 2026 update lowered its difficulty so that it lines up with the combat difficulty expected at its gear-level (装等) band, which implies the tier is gated or scaled by gear level rather than by character level alone.
Shadow Trial is taken offline on its own when an update touches it. For the September 17, 2026 update the mode closed inside the gameplay manual from 04:50 China time and was expected back around 08:00, while the rest of the game stayed up through the 05:00 to 06:00 no-downtime window. Earlier, the Bamboo Court Appreciation (竹庭清赏) event of September 2026 used the trial for its September 7 leg.
As of October 19, 2026 no official notice has published the full affix list, the reward table, the entry requirement or a tier list for the mode; only the changes above are confirmed. The Content Roadmap tracks each update as it lands.
