Shiro Unlimited is a French video game publisher and the third-party publishing arm of Shiro Games. It publishes Frostrail, which is developed by FakeFish. The publisher handles the game's marketing and localization and owns the Frostrail name and logo as trademarks.
Relationship to Shiro Games
Shiro Unlimited operates under Shiro Games, and the Frostrail store page notes that the Shiro Unlimited name and logo are trademarks of Shiro Games. When Frostrail was revealed in April 2025, the announcement introduced Shiro Games as the studio known for the RTS Northgard, the turn-based RPG Wartales and the then recently announced online space exploration and building game SpaceCraft. Frostrail is a third-party title for the label: it was made by an outside studio rather than by Shiro Games itself.
Role on Frostrail
The reveal post described FakeFish and the publisher as two halves of the team behind Frostrail, and said they had been working on it together for a couple of years before the April 2025 announcement. The developers' FAQ of April 24, 2025 set out the division of work:
Area | Who handles it |
|---|---|
Game development | FakeFish |
Marketing | Shiro Unlimited, through its own trusted partners |
Localization | Shiro Unlimited, entirely |
Publishing on Steam | Shiro Unlimited |
Because of this arrangement, FakeFish said it was not looking for new marketing partnerships or outside translations. Frostrail supports seven languages on Steam: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Simplified Chinese.
Trademarks and credits
The Steam store page lists Shiro Unlimited as publisher and carries a legal notice crediting both companies (©2025 Shiro Unlimited and ©2025 FakeFish). It states that the Frostrail name and logo are trademarks of Shiro Unlimited.
Early Access and community
The store page's Early Access section explains the decision to release in Early Access by pointing to the collective experience of Shiro Games and FakeFish with the model. Members of the publishing team are present on the official Discord server alongside the developers, and the official Trailers are published on the Shiro Games video channel. Release details are on Release Date and Platforms.
