11The Weapons are the enormous guardians that awaken to defend the planet in Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Official material describes them emerging in answer to a world in crisis, then making no distinction between friend and foe as they wreak catastrophic destruction on the planet and the people living on it. They are among the largest threats the party meets while exploring the planet, and several of the finale's standout battles are built around them.2233A Planet That Fights Back4455Two readings of the Weapons sit side by side in the game's own material. They are guardians, roused by the crisis closing in around the planet. They are also a catastrophe in their own right, indifferent to whoever is caught underneath them. That is why the party cannot simply leave them alone: Cloud Strife and his companions have to stand against the colossal Weapons even as they work to save the world from Sephiroth. The two threats run at the same time rather than one after the other.667+78The trailer released on August 25, 2026 takes its name, The Planet's Crisis, from that idea, and opens on the line that the mighty Weapons have awakened across the planet.89910The Weapons Shown So Far10111112Three Weapons appear in that footage. Official material discusses them only as a class and does not name any of them individually, so the names below come from the footage itself. No further encounters, stats, or rewards have been detailed for any of them.12131314WeaponWhat Has Been ShownRuby WeaponAppears in the trailer among the reimagined Weapon battles. Its encounter has not been detailed.Emerald WeaponAppears in an undersea setting. The party's submarine also features in the trailer's underwater footage, which fits the officially stated battle at the bottom of the sea.Ultima WeaponAppears in the trailer. Its encounter has not been detailed.1415Names from earlier games in the series should not be assumed to carry over. Nothing outside these three has been shown or announced for Revelation, and the roster has not been given a size.15161617Where the Battles Take Place17181819Official material sets out three settings for the Weapon fights: upon desert sands, in mid-air dogfights, and at the bottom of the sea. That covers the ground, the sky, and the water, which is the same spread as the ways the party moves through the world once the airship Highwind is in hand. A Weapon fight can therefore interrupt almost any part of the journey rather than waiting at a fixed point on the map.192021+2022The mid-air fights put the Highwind itself in the firing line, which ties them to Cid Highwind as its pilot. The undersea fights use the submarine the party gains for reaching areas below the surface.21232224Endgame Encounters23252426Official material calls them reimagined superbosses returning as standout battles, and says some of them appear as ultra-challenging endgame battles that pay homage to their original forms. Note the hedge in that wording: some, not all. Which of the Weapons are endgame encounters and which are fought during the main story has not been separated out.25272628Placing at least part of the roster in the endgame fits the way the finale is built. The team has described a substantial endgame with more post-game content than the previous entry, including encounters pitched above the final boss, and has said that content is reachable within a first playthrough instead of being held back for a repeat run.27292830How those fights are built follows the same rule as the rest of the game's encounters, with the hybrid battle system at the base and any one-off mechanics layered on top. For that design and for the wider set of encounters, see the Combat System page. For the party that fights them, see Playable Characters.29313032Still Unknown31333234The full Weapon roster, the order the fights come in, and any rewards attached to them are all unannounced. So is whether every Weapon shown is an endgame encounter or only some of them, which is the wording official material uses. This page will grow as the game details them.
