The Blood Ravens are one of the two Space Marine Chapters played in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, and the Chapter the Space Marines campaign is built around. The studio counts them, alongside the Orks, as one of the iconic Dawn of War factions.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has not released yet. Everything on this page reflects information published before launch and may change.
Why They Are on Kronus
The Blood Ravens travel to Planet Kronus to rebuild their Chapter, and what they find there turns into something larger: a threat to the wider sub-sector. They are not the only force on the planet, and the story trailer’s framing is that they are not alone in the fight. The Dark Angels descend during the Blood Ravens’ hour of need, which is how the campaign comes to carry two Chapters instead of one. See Story and Setting for the full thread.

How They Play
The Blood Ravens use the standard Space Marine toolkit, which is the most straightforward of the four launch armies: structures are dropped from orbit anywhere inside your vision and upgraded to unlock further units and research, with Reserves and the Thunderhawk Relay moving strength around the map. Pre-release coverage describes the Chapter as leaning toward tactical finesse, with some accounts mentioning occasional stealth in smaller engagements, which is a pre-launch description rather than a documented mechanic.
The official play guidance published for the Space Marines is shared between the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels, so the split between the two Chapters is a matter of roster and story rather than a separate set of rules. The Space Marines page carries that guidance in full.
The Blood Ravens Story Prologue
The Chapter is also the subject of a paid expansion. The Blood Ravens Story Prologue is additional story content centred on the Chapter, included with the Commander Edition and shown on the Year 1 Expansion roadmap in the window marked Spring. See Post-Launch Roadmap and DLC for the plan and Release Date and Editions for how the Commander Edition bundles it.
What Is Not Confirmed
The Space Marines are the one launch faction still awaiting their own dedicated faction feature, which the developers have said is the next one planned. As of September 2026 it has not been published, so the full Blood Ravens roster has not been shown. The Redemptor Dreadnought is the one unit named for the Space Marines beyond the Dark Angels formations. Nothing from the earlier Dawn of War games is imported here.
