11Overview22334455Three-Toed Woodpecker is a bird species found in Crimson Desert. Three-toed woodpeckers are one of the first species to return to areas affected by forest fires. The charred trees they prefer are rich in insects like bark beetles, which thrive in the burned wood, making it a perfect food source for these resilient birds.6677Knowledge8899Encountering and observing this creature grants Knowledge entries in the Birds category. Capture uses the Sotdae of Bond, the bird feeder awarded through the Pororin faction quest. Once tamed, the woodpecker perches on the player's shoulder during exploration like the other small bird companions.29+30+Where to Place the Feeder31+32+Mountain placements in the Pailune region are the most consistent for the woodpecker, with the Silver Wolf Mountain ridges in particular pulling a mixed predator and small-bird flock that includes the Three-Toed Woodpecker, sparrows, and the larger eagle and sparrowhawk variants. Setting up at an elevated open spot lets the flock spot the bait from their normal flight path; standing too close after placement scares them off, so step back once the feeder is down.33+34+Food and Trust35+36+Woodpeckers eat insects in the wild and accept the small-bird food list in-game: bugs, grains, and fruits. Barley is an easy grain to keep stockpiled, and bugs gathered with the Kuku Insect Gatherer's Pack save manual collection time. Each accepted feed raises trust by roughly 25 points for grain and similar amounts for the species' preferred bait; refill the feeder until trust caps, then take the bird as a pet. Full bird-taming mechanics are documented on the Pet Taming Guide.
