Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert has no microtransactions at launch. The game is a premium retail product with no cosmetic cash shop, no battle pass, and no in-game currency purchases. All pre-order bonuses and edition-exclusive items are entirely cosmetic and provide no gameplay advantages. Any future post-launch content will take the form of substantial paid expansions rather than small purchases.
As of February 2026, Crimson Desert surpassed two million wishlists on Steam. The game's long development period (over seven years) and the scale of its ambition generated significant anticipation from both action-RPG fans and Black Desert Online players. Pearl Abyss rejected a reported Sony timed-exclusivity deal to ensure all platforms launch simultaneously.
