55 There are 16 Sanctum Challenges tracked under The Forgotten Sun tab in the Journal. Sanctums are locked behind Chapter 5 because they require the Abyss Gear ability granted by Elowen, the Witch of Wisdom. Each sanctum combines combat against Antumbra worshippers, puzzle-solving with Axiom Force abilities, and a final restoration ritual. Clearing all 16 is one of the nine subcategories toward the Expert Explorer gold trophy.

1717 Reach Chapter 5 and complete Chapter 5: Guest Unbidden Walkthrough. Rescuing Elowen from a thorned hut in the Witchwoods unlocks the Abyss Gear system and the ability to interact with sanctums. Her four sanctums open immediately and can be cleared in any order.

1919 The other three witches need specific triggers: Bari is a shivering old woman under a tent in Pailune (light her brazier); Lyselia hangs from a broken bridge in Beighen (cut her down and follow colored flags to her cave); Areciel is a beggar child near Tommaso (give a copper coin). The last sanctum, Sanctum of Mortification, plays out during Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert Walkthrough and does not grant a token but is required for Lightbringer.

Stab is essential for pulling Fusion Reactor Cores from alcoves. Clear each witch's full set before moving to the next since Tokens are earned only on full completion. Save Sanctum of Mortification for Chapter 9; if every other sanctum is already cleared, Lightbringer triggers the moment Chapter 9 ends.
