11Overview2233Hernand Sewers are underground passages running beneath the city of Hernand in Pywel. Players first access the sewers during Chapter 1 as part of the Mysterious Man and True Wisdom in Kindness quests. The entrance is a trapdoor located near the Hernand Tavern, where a commotion involving an old beggar draws Kliff's attention.4455The in-game description reads: "An altar found by following the path down into the Hernand sewers. While it appears to be a sacred site for enshrining something of great importance, the blood spattered across the floor suggests a more sinister reality." This contrast between the seemingly sacred altar and the evidence of violence sets the tone for the entire underground section.6677Location Details88991010PropertyDetailsRegionHernandPositionBeneath Hernand, near the tavernTypeUnderground Passage / DungeonChapterChapter 1: The First EncounterSub-ChapterTrials of Wisdom / Trials of Kindness1111Geography and Atmosphere12121313The sewers are dark, narrow, and oppressive. Stone-walled tunnels wind beneath the city streets, with water running through channels along the floor. Sections of the floor have collapsed, creating gaps that Kliff must jump across to progress. The deeper chambers open up slightly, revealing the blood-stained altar that appears to have been used for rituals of some kind.14141515The atmosphere is deliberately unsettling. Faint light filters through cracks in the ceiling, and the sound of dripping water echoes through the tunnels. The presence of the altar, combined with the blood on the floor, hints at activities that the surface residents of Hernand either do not know about or choose to ignore.16161717Quests in the Sewers18181919Mysterious Man20202121The Mysterious Man is the 6th main mission in Crimson Desert, set in the Hernand region near the Hernand Tavern. The quest begins when Kliff witnesses children taunting an old beggar lying on the ground near the sewer entrance. Investigating this scene leads to the discovery of the trapdoor and the path into the underground.22222323True Wisdom in Kindness24242525The True Wisdom in Kindness is the 7th main mission, continuing directly from Mysterious Man. Kliff opens the trapdoor and descends into the sewer. After jumping across breaks in the floor where sections have collapsed, he reaches a woman kneeling at the far end of the tunnel. The objective is to free her by untying her restraints, which completes the mission. This quest is part of the Trials of Kindness, one of the tests Kliff must pass to eventually gain entry to Hernand Castle.26262727Items and Collectibles28282929ItemTypeNotesSealed LetterKey ItemFound in the sewersEngraved KeyKey ItemFound in the sewers; may be related to castle accessArtisan's Metal GobletCollectibleFound near the altar area3030Enemies31313232No enemies are encountered in the sewers during the Chapter 1 quests. Completing the Trials of Wisdom and Trials of Kindness (which include the sewer quests) is required before Kliff can gain entry to the castle. A Mystical Key obtained through the trial chain eventually opens a portal to the Abyss from within the castle. For a full guide on entering the castle, see How to Enter Hernand Castle.37373838Tips39394040The floor collapses are scripted. Watch for visual cracks in the stone before jumping; the landing spots on the other side are always safe. The woman at the end of the tunnel requires a specific interaction prompt. Lock on to her using the target button, then use the interaction input to untie her.Explore thoroughly before freeing the woman. The Sealed Letter and Engraved Key are easy to miss if you rush straight to the objective. The Artisan's Metal Goblet near the altar is a collectible worth picking up for completion purposes.
