11Constellation Research2233Scholastone Institute. This faction quest takes place in the Hernand region of Crimson Desert.4455Completion667788The constellation research journal was found. It recorded beams of light observed at the "Gate of Truth" ruins in the Kingshield Mountains and faint luminescent reactions observed in gravestone samples. The records also detailed the development of the "constellation helm" that decodes constellations, and a conclusion that the steles and constellations are interlinked like a single puzzle.991010Overview11111212Constellation Research is a long-running investigation project that sits inside the Scholastone Institute questline in the Hernand region. The goal of the research is to map and align the 13 constellations that hang above Pywel, register each one at its correct viewing location, and ultimately unlock a celestial reward tied to the skies of the Crimson Desert world. Early stages of the line piece together fragmentary field notes, gravestone luminescence readings, and stele inscriptions into a single unified theory that links every constellation to a specific stone marker on the world map.13131414The line is mostly played as Kliff during the data-gathering phase, since Kliff is the character who typically handles the Institute's field work and who picks up constellations out in the open world. The endgame reward, however, is gated to Damiane. Players who have collected every constellation on Kliff will still need to swap to Damiane for the final quest.15151616Obtaining the Constellation Helm17171818The research branch officially begins with the quest What the Stars Left Behindpicked up from the Scholastone Institute as part of the Hernand questline. Completing it rewards the Constellation Helma specialized headpiece that decodes the night sky. While equipped, the helm highlights stars in the correct pattern and lets the wearer align a constellation when standing on a specific spot on the ground. This mechanic matches the findings recorded in the Constellation Research Journalwhich connects the stone steles scattered across Pywel to the constellations overhead as a single interlinked puzzle.19192020Each constellation has a fixed viewing location on the map. From that exact position, looking up, the helm reveals the intended pattern and allows the player to rotate the view until the stars snap into alignment. Once aligned, the constellation is recorded and added to the research log. Because the alignment points are tied to precise terrain features (often near steles, ruins, or elevated vistas), players usually need to triangulate the correct ground position through trial and error or with the help of in-game hints.21212222The 13 Constellations23232424There are 13 constellations in total. Ten can be found freely out in the world, while three are gated behind faction questlines in their respective regions. The gated constellations only become visible and alignable after the player has reached the appropriate step in that region's Faction Questswhich means a completionist run of the Scholastone Institute line effectively requires meaningful progress across multiple factions. The remaining ten are distributed across the world and can be collected in any order as soon as the Constellation Helm is in hand.25252626Because each constellation requires the player to stand in a very specific spot and rotate the sky view until it locks, collecting all 13 is a deliberate side project rather than a passive unlock. Most players tackle them in batches while traveling for other quests, returning later to clean up the faction-gated entries once those storylines have progressed far enough. The Constellation Research Journal tracks which constellations have already been registered, so progress persists across play sessions.27272828Patch 1.04: Where Starlight Converges29293030Before Patch 1.04, completing all 13 constellations was purely a completionist exercise with no mechanical payoff. Patch 1.04 added the final capstone quest Where Starlight Convergeswhich unlocks only once two prerequisites are both met:31313232Scholastone Institute questline at 9 of 10 steps complete. All 13 constellations registered in the research journal.33333434With both conditions satisfied, the quest appears at a suspicious-looking stone near the Temple Pagoda close to Gi Jang Temple in the Serpent Marsh. In some tracks it is also labeled Maps of the Night Unveiled, which points to the same final encounter and reward. If either prerequisite is missing, the stone stays inert and the quest will not spawn.35353636The quest itself is short. The stone reacts to the player's presence, the collected constellations light up across its surface, and a cutscene pulls the view up through the night sky before the starlight plunges back into the rock. The stone shatters and reveals the weapon inside. Crucially, the final step must be played as Damiane. All 13 constellations can be registered on Kliff during the collection phase, but swapping to Damiane is required for the pickup itself, since the reward is a Damiane-only one-handed weapon.37373838Reward: Sword of Starlight39394040The reward is the Sword of Starlighta one-handed sword for Damiane with a black blade, constellation patterns glowing along one edge, and engraved sigils along the other. Its in-game flavor text describes a blade forged from starlight that came to Pywel from the eastern continent long ago.41414242The sword ships pre-equipped with a set of abyss gears that are unusual for a quest reward:43434444Abyss GearEffectCelestial TransferenceLevel 2 stamina siphon.
