The recipe is not sold by any normal merchant. Instead, you have to liberate Fort Manub, finish the Lord of the Unclaimed Lands side quest, max out Bernor's trust as a camp vendor, and buy the blueprint book from him directly.27272828Step 1: Liberate Fort Manub29293030Travel to Fort Manub and complete the area liberation. The whole objective chain only takes around ten minutes if you are decently geared for your current chapter. It involves clearing out the nearby points of interest around the fort, defeating the small groups of enemies at each one, and then finishing off the main boss stationed inside the central fort building. Once every objective in the region is ticked off, a cutscene plays and the area is marked as liberated, which spawns the allied camp where Bernor and his crew set up shop.31313232Step 2: Finish "Lord of the Unclaimed Lands"33333434Following the liberation, the side quest Lord of the Unclaimed Lands becomes active at the newly established camp. Finish every step of this quest. Once it is complete, Bernor settles in as a permanent vendor at the camp and is available for dialogue and trade like any other NPC merchant.35353636Step 3: Max Out Bernor's Trust With Copper Bags37373838Bernor sells the blueprint book for his pickaxe only after you reach maximum trust with him. The fastest way to get there is to gift him Copper Bags. These are the same cheap pouches that drop from bandits and common enemies, and a single stack is usually more than enough to take him from zero to maxed. You do not need to sort or open the bags first; hand them over directly through the gift interaction. Once his trust bar is full, he unlocks a new entry in his shop that contains the recipe book.39394040Step 4: Buy and Read the Recipe Book41414242Purchase the Bernor's Pickaxe recipe book from his shop and use it from your inventory. This permanently unlocks the crafting recipe at any blacksmith, exactly like the Olvald's Logging Axe learning process.43434444Crafting Materials45454646Bernor's Pickaxe uses a material list very close to Olvald's Logging Axe, with one critical swap: where the logging axe needs rubber, the pickaxe needs diamonds. Everything else follows the same general farming routes, which makes it convenient to batch both tools in a single crafting run.47474848MaterialQuantityWhere to FindFine Timber20Harvest trees with Olvald's Logging Axe or a Fine Axe. Camp donation thresholds also spawn Fine Timber passively.Iron Ore30Mined from common ore nodes across Pywell. The diamond cave near Bernor's camp is itself a convenient mining stop while you are already in the area.Sturdy Hide10Skinned from Crocodiles at the Abandoned Wetland Cabins in the Golden Plains of Demeniss. Two to three hides per kill, respawns on fast travel.Ivory15Farm the giant deer-like animals at the Scholar Stone Institute (wear a mask, clear any bounty at a nearby church).Diamond5Mine from the diamond vein inside the small cave extremely close to Bernor's camp. Drop down into the hole, walk all the way to the back corner, and mine the diamond nodes at the rear wall.4949Diamond Mining Spot Near the Camp50505151The diamond vein used to complete the last material requirement is deliberately placed right next to the camp so that players can finish the full crafting loop without fast travelling anywhere else. Once you exit the camp, look for the hole in the ground a short distance away, drop down inside, and head straight to the back corner. Mine the diamonds at the rear wall and head back up to hand the materials in at a blacksmith. Because the nodes reset on the normal ore respawn timer, you can farm additional diamonds here for other recipes on later trips.52525353Bonus Effects54545555Bernor's Pickaxe mirrors Olvald's Logging Axe on the mining side. By default it grants a 20% chance to mine bonus ore on each successful hit, and that bonus rises with refinement. Like the logging axe, its primary draw is the built-in passive that unlocks access to higher-tier mining yields without needing to chase a late-game alternative, which in the mining case is the Mining Knuckledrill (after chapter 11) or the Demenissian Chainsaw equivalent for logging.56565757See Also58585959Tools - All tools in Crimson DesertEquipment - Full equipment guideGathering - Resource gathering guideRefinement System - How to upgrade equipment
