They can be encountered as wild animals to hunt for resources, and some bears can also be tamed and ridden as mounts.

2323 Taming a bear works nothing like taming a horse. There is no sneaking, no food offering, no gentle approach. You fight the bear into submission.

2525 Find a bear: The Greenfield Highlands near Grace Estate Abyss Nexus is the most reliable spawn point.Save your game: Make a manual save before engaging. If you fail to mount in time, you avoid a lengthy respawn wait.Fight it: Attack the bear with your weapon until its health drops low enough that it stops fighting back.Mount quickly: The moment it stops moving, a Ride prompt appears. Press Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) immediately. The window is roughly two to three seconds before the bear recovers.

3737 Critical: Dismounting a bear causes it to immediately become hostile. There is no graceful exit. The second you are off, you have a hostile bear behind you. Either ride until the bear dies or be prepared to fight or flee when you get off.
