Combat in Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is built on what the developers describe as an evolved Chinese martial arts style that integrates both offensive and defensive fighting. This emphasis on flowing between attack and defence is the one mechanical pillar the team has confirmed so far.
The game is an action role-playing experience in which the champion battles human warriors and demonic fiends on large battlefields. Team Ninja, known for fast and technical action games, has said the sequel will bring new mechanics, though it has not yet detailed what those are.
Because Wo Long 2 is a direct sequel, players familiar with the first game may recognise its fast, reaction-based combat lineage, but the studio has not confirmed which specific systems from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty return. Co-operative play and other modes also remain unannounced for now.
