Rather than presenting quests, the map, and social features as an abstract menu, the game routes them through a handheld device the character carries, so checking a route or reading a message is something that happens inside the fiction. That ties the Tablet directly to Citizen Grade, since the work a survivor accepts is what moves them up the ladder.

Because extraction is the only way a run ends well, knowing where the nearest exit is at any moment is the difference between a recoverable mistake and a lost loadout. A survivor moving through Jongno is constantly weighing distance to the next objective against distance back to an exit, and the Tablet is the tool that makes that arithmetic possible mid-run.

1919 The same view is what makes the landmarks layer legible. A named site is only useful if the survivor can find it, judge how far off-route it sits, and decide whether the detour is worth the extra exposure.

Detection is built around sound and sight, the infected react to what the survivor actually does, and the shelter is a real room rather than a menu.
