Overview
The Nine Seers in Honor of Kings: World are the named custodians of the Sky Dome and the Misty Marshes ecological balance. Per the official worldview portal, they are not a prophesied future group; they are the ongoing caretakers of the Misty Marshes, descending from the nine enforcers who accompanied Nuwa after the Fall of the Superbeings. The portal documents two distinct generations: the First Seers and the Second Seers.
The First Seers
From the Misty Marshes region page: "After the Fall of the Superbeings, nine enforcers accompanied Nuwa to the Misty Marshes. They witnessed the disappearance of the superbeings and the Heavenly Tree's creation of the world. Moved by these events, they decided to protect the Sky Dome and the land below it on behalf of Nuwa. Resonating with the Heavenly Tree and its essence of 'nurturing,' they were granted divine powers, becoming the first nine Seers dedicated to maintaining the Sky Dome and the ecological balance of the Misty Marshes."
Named First Seers mentioned elsewhere in the portal include Hebo (the ancestor revered by the Riparian Tribe of Lake Village) and implicitly others such as the Priestess of Birth and Shangui, though the full list of the original nine is not enumerated.
The War of Wonders
At some point, the Sky Dome was "badly damaged during the War of Wonders, and the First Seers gave the last of their strength to repair it after defeating the enemy army." This event ended the First Seers' tenure. The War of Wonders is one of two related terms the portal uses for ancient cataclysms (the other being the "Fall of the Superbeings"), and neither is precisely mapped to the "War of the Gods" framing used in some earlier wiki drafts.
The Second Seers
After the First Seers gave their lives, "Many years later, a group of newborn children being washed in the Flowers of Life were gifted the same marks as those of the First Seers by the Heavenly Tree... they became the Second Seers. Among them, Donghuang, Augran, and Dongjun were of similar age and were once good friends." The Second Seers inherited the role of maintaining the Sky Dome. Augran now leads the Order of the Seers as High Priest, Donghuang schismed and formed the rebel Omniscient faction, and Dongjun's current role is not specified in portal text.
Role: Custodians, Not Prophets
Earlier wiki drafts described the Nine Seers as a "prophesied group who will patch up the sky" to "end the Wilting." This framing is NOT in the portal. The Nine Seers are CURRENT ongoing custodians of the Sky Dome; they have been maintaining it continuously since Nuwa departed. The Second Seers inherited this role from the First Seers, and any future generation would inherit it again. There is no prophecy about the Nine Seers "patching the sky" as a future event; the sky is being actively maintained right now as part of their ongoing duty.
Relationship to the Wilting
The connection between the Nine Seers and the Wilting is indirect. Augran, a Second Seer, is described in his hero story as "the only one who can put an end to the Wilting," but this is framed as a personal capability tied to his High Priest role rather than as a prophecy about the Nine Seers collectively. Augran's story is tied to the Wilting through his personal loss (the Wilting killed his friends), not through a Nine-Seers-prophecy framework.
