Overview
The Jixia Star Team (稷下星之队, Jìxià Xīng Zhī Duì) is the in-world adventuring squad of Jixia Academy and one of the central narrative groups in Honor of Kings: World's opening story. The team is an existing Honor of Kings IP concept from 2019, and HoKW uses its canonical five-member line-up as the launch cast of Jixia-affiliated Resonances. Source:, launch coverage, Moegirl.

Captain: Dongfang Yao
Dongfang Yao is confirmed as the team's captain in both the base Honor of Kings IP and in HoKW. His character is written with a deliberately comedic, showboating self-promoter tone, and the team is initially mocked by the rest of Jixia Academy before proving itself. In HoKW's launch story arc, Dongfang Yao's character biography uses the same non-main-line comedic tone to flesh him out beyond a pure combat archetype.
Founding: Gui Xu Meng Yan Tournament
the Jixia Star Team was founded through the Jixia Academy's annual "归虚梦演" (Gui Xu Meng Yan / Returning Void Dream Performance) tournament. The tournament is the canonical origin of the team in the Honor of Kings IP, and HoKW inherits this backstory as part of its integration with the broader Honor of Kings universe.
Narrative Role in HoKW
In Honor of Kings: World's opening story, Dongfang Yao is the player protagonist's in-world guide during the early Jixia chapters. The Child of the Primal Flow is introduced to the Star Team through Dongfang Yao, and the team's narrative arc runs through the opening chapters of the 27-chapter S0 main story. Specifically, Dongfang Yao has a dedicated arc across Chapters 11 and 12 (Cloud Fall Anomaly and Stellar Awakening), and the "Yao Series" meta-chapters (Chapters 20, 22, 24) are framed as storybook-within-the-game adventures featuring him.
The Stargazing Terrace (观星台) at Jixia Academy is canonically where Dongfang Yao awakens to his Star Power (星辰之力), and it is both a landmark location in the game and a plot site tied to his character arc. The Moegirl HoKW entry confirms this.
Star Team as Gameplay Mechanic
Verified HoKW sources treat the Jixia Star Team as narrative and IP flavor rather than as a distinct gameplay system. There is no confirmed "Star Team" bonus, no dedicated team-based mechanic beyond the standard 4-player squad, and no confirmation that the Child of the Primal Flow is formally recruited into the team as a founding or sixth member. Players control the protagonist, and the Star Team members are accessible as playable Resonances via the Resonance System.
