Overview
HoYoverse (Cognosphere Pte., Ltd.) is the global entertainment brand that publishes Honkai: Nexus Anima. Based in Singapore, HoYoverse was established in 2021 and launched publicly in February 2022 to expand the international reach of its parent company, miHoYo.
miHoYo Origins
miHoYo was founded by three Shanghai Jiao Tong University computer science students: Cai Haoyu, Liu Wei, and Luo Yuhao. The three shared an interest in technology and ACG (anime, comics, and games) culture. In January 2011, they set up the miHoYo studio in the D32 university dormitory on campus. Shanghai Mihoyo Network Technology Co., Ltd. was officially incorporated on February 13, 2012.

Honkai: Nexus Anima is the fifth installment in the Honkai series. It was first teased through an easter egg in a trailer shown at Star Rail LIVE 2025 (the Honkai: Star Rail anniversary concert in May 2025), then officially announced on August 28-29, 2025.
Connection to Nexus Anima
Trademark applications and media account registrations for Honkai: Nexus Anima were discovered in April 2025, months before the official announcement. The game is reported to be led by a producer from elsewhere in the Honkai series, and brings in established Honkai characters (such as Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail) alongside entirely new characters. HoYoverse distributes its PC titles through HoYoPlay, its own launcher, and on September 4, 2026 it opened pre-registration for Honkai: Nexus Anima there, with the mainland Chinese equivalent on the miHoYo Launcher the same day. No release date accompanied the listing.
