Overview

Blade is the 22nd Novarch, ruling over a Plane called The Peak. He appears in his original form from Honkai: Star Rail, making him one of the two crossover characters (alongside Kiana) who connect Nexus Anima to the broader Honkai multiverse. He is classified as one of the "Phoenixbreaker Novarchs" — a title whose full meaning hasn't been explained yet.

Role as Novarch

Each of the 81 Planes has a Novarch who governs it and controls a singular Aspect. Blade's specific Aspect hasn't been named, but his Plane — The Peak — is one of the locations players can visit. His position as the 22nd Novarch places him within the larger political structure that emerged after the Sundering fractured the Old World.

According to available lore, Blade is actively searching for the missing 11th Sovereign. This suggests he has some connection to the Old World that predates the Sundering, or at least that he has taken on a mission related to the lost rulers of that era. The 11th Sovereign's identity and Aspects have not been revealed.

Companion Anima

Blade is shown alongside a mechanical wolf Anima, which fits his established aesthetic from Honkai: Star Rail. The mechanical design of his companion contrasts with the softer, rounder creature designs that most other characters have, reflecting Blade's more intense personality.

Connection to Honkai: Star Rail

In Honkai: Star Rail, Blade is a member of the Stellaron Hunters with a complicated history involving immortality and self-destruction. His appearance in Nexus Anima in his original form — rather than as a variant or alternate version — has fueled community speculation about how the game connects different Honkai timelines. The fact that he has been alive long enough to become a Novarch fits with his immortal nature in Star Rail.

Both Blade and Kiana were revealed in the initial May 2025 teaser PV shown at the Honkai: Star Rail LIVE Concert, signaling from the start that Nexus Anima would bridge the Honkai games rather than exist independently.
