Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, concluding the trilogy that began in 2020. It was announced on June 5, 2026, and is set to launch simultaneously in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, during the 30th anniversary year of the original game.
Picking up after the events of the previous entry, the game follows Cloud Strife and his companions as they take to the skies aboard the airship Highwind. Grieving a beloved ally and facing their nemesis Sephiroth as he nears godhood, the party races against time to stop Meteor before it obliterates the planet. The developers describe the finale as a story centered on the theme of resolve. The subtitle Revelation was chosen as the best fit for the third installment: the director frames it as the point where everything is revealed and the trilogy’s lingering questions are finally answered, rather than any religious reference.
Official material sums the finale up in a single line carried across the announcement and every store listing: "The final battle has begun. Everything leads here."

What Is New
Revelation opens up the entire planet for free exploration by airship, letting the party drop in by parachute almost anywhere and transition seamlessly from air to land. The acclaimed hybrid battle system returns, expanded with new playable characters and powerful new abilities, and a new customization layer called the FITS system lets characters equip outfits that grant movesets evoking classic Final Fantasy jobs. Two fan favorites, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, become fully playable for the first time in the Remake series. Returning minigames include Queen’s Blood, back in an enhanced form.
Each character has four FITS to choose between, and the finale adds a substantial endgame: the team has said there is more post-game content than in the previous entry, including encounters pitched above the final boss, reachable within a first playthrough rather than held back for a repeat run.
A second showing on August 25, 2026 put the finale's biggest opponents on display. The planet's enormous Weapons return as reimagined superboss battles fought on desert sands, in mid-air dogfights, and at the bottom of the sea, with some pitched as ultra-challenging endgame encounters. The same footage named Typhon as a new summon and added a grappling hook and Chocobo mounts to the ways the party crosses the world.
Release Status
Revelation is open for wishlisting on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the PlayStation Store, all of which list it as arriving in 2027. No price, edition breakdown, or downloadable content has been announced, and the game has not yet been assigned an age rating.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi presented a new trailer, The Planet's Crisis, at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026. Revelation was not playable at the gamescom stand, which offered a themed photo spot instead. Two panels follow: a livestreamed PAX West appearance on September 5, 2026 with Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo, and a New York Comic Con panel on October 8, 2026 where the full main English voice cast appears on stage together with Hamaguchi for the first time.
