Lord Ahmnok

Initial version (2026-09-15)
Lord Ahmnok is the second playable Necrons Commander in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. He is the aggressive half of the Necron Commander pair, and he is also named on the post-launch roadmap as a free addition to two other modes.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has not released yet. Everything on this page reflects information published before launch and may change.
Ahmnok was once the ruler of Planet Kronus, and he is now described as consumed entirely by the urge to annihilate all life. That gives the Necrons two very different leaders on the same world: one who is reclaiming an empire and one who simply wants everything on the planet dead.
The developers draw the contrast between the two Commanders directly. Where Thothmek the Chronomancer bends time itself to empower his legions and confound his enemies, Ahmnok is much less inclined to manipulate the battlefield from afar, and is more than happy to let his bloodied claws do the talking instead.
Ahmnok is the close-quarters option for a Necron player. The faction as a whole is slow, resilient and built to grind an opponent down inside the Power Matrix, so a Commander who wants to be in melee changes the emphasis rather than the identity: the army still snowballs, but the fighting is pushed forward instead of managed from behind. See Commanders for how Commanders are selected in the campaigns and in competitive play.
No abilities, statistics or costs have been published for Ahmnok. The contrast with Thothmek is the only playstyle guidance the studio has given, and this page does not extend it.
Ahmnok appears by name on the Year 1 Expansion roadmap as a free update. The roadmap entry reads "Lord Ahmnok" over the label "Last Stand / Crusade", which places him as a free addition to those two modes rather than as a new character: he is already a playable Necron Commander in the Campaign. He is the second of the four free drops shown, paired with Map Pack II.
The same treatment is given to Beastboss Guzcutta, who arrives for Last Stand and Crusade Mode as the fourth free drop. See Post-Launch Roadmap and DLC for the full sequence and the published windows.
