Chronicles: Medieval is a dynamic medieval sandbox RPG developed and published by Raw Power Games. Set in 14th and 15th century Europe, the game drops players into a living world of war, trade, diplomacy, and ambition where they must carve their way up the feudal hierarchy through skill, strategy, and force. The game is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on PC in 2026.
The game was announced at Summer Games Fest in June 2025 and reached 200,000 Steam wishlists shortly after its reveal. It is built on Unreal Engine 5 alongside Raw Power Games' proprietary Asgard simulation technology, designed to power dynamic unit behavior and shifting supply lines at scale.
Overview
Players begin as a nobody with little to their name and work toward becoming a powerful figure in medieval Europe. The primary focus at Early Access launch is the army commander path, in which players recruit and lead troops, fight for territory, construct castles, and navigate the political landscape of rival lords and factions.

The world functions independently of player action. Kings rise and fall, caravan raids affect the price and availability of grain, and a reputation built over years can unravel in an afternoon. The design emphasizes cause and effect through interlocking systems rather than scripted events.
Core Pillars
Pillar | Description |
|---|---|
Dynamic Sandbox | A living world built from interlocking systems driven by real logic and cause-and-effect rather than scripted sequences. Factions, NPCs, and economies react to player decisions. |
Tactical Battles | Large-scale skirmishes, field battles, and sieges where decisions outweigh raw numbers. Smaller forces can defeat larger armies through superior tactics. |
Modding Support | Developers provide modders the same or similar tools used internally to create game content, with active collaboration and strong documentation. |
Co-op Play | Custom battle co-op is available at Early Access launch. Full campaign co-op is a long-term goal planned for the 1.0 release. |
Setting
The game is set across 14th and 15th century Europe. Historical scenarios include periods such as the Hundred Years' War and the Black Plague. Real historical figures and settings appear in the game, though with creative liberties taken for gameplay balance. Players explore a map described as covering a large part of medieval Europe, visiting settlements, castles, and battlefields. At the Early Access gameplay reveal, three factions were confirmed as fully playable: England, France, and the Holy Roman Empire, with the playable map spanning the British Isles, France, and the Empire.

During Early Access, the game will include core systems for exploration, crafting, combat, sieges, and custom multiplayer battles. Additional historical chapters, expanded diplomacy and economy systems, enhanced castle tiers, and modding tools are planned for the Early Access development period. Dedicated servers, matchmaking, and large-scale PvP battles are not planned for the game.
